  1. Not quite 'un-expected' ... just one of those things :-) Batteries to me are a consumable item just like disc pads & I prefer to replace BEFORE I have issues ... nothing worse than dodgy battery & having troubles starting car :-( For the small cost of a new battery every few years, you have peace of mind that you can just 'turn the key' & go !!!

  4. Awwww geez .... and I thought they kinda looked 'okay' :-( Not sure if the ol' conservetives @ TMC are really into 'style' that strays too far from the mainstream ???
  5. We have recently joined the world of 'Aurion Ownership' and purchased a white 07 AT-X with 118K on the odometer. The log books show it was a lease vehicle but had servicing every 15K. The vehicle was filthy dirty, the interior mainly the seats was stained & looked pretty ordinary :-( We ended up paying $10K for the vehicle and the seller renewed the rego for 6 mths the day before we picked it up :-) After a good wash, some cutting compound, a decent clean of all the interior, fitting some genuine seat covers ... the vehicle doesn't 'look' like the cheapy we bought !!! We had looked at many 08 Aurions in dealers but the prices they wanted was rediculous ! We had considered buying 08 or 09 model with lower km's but the prices were another 6 - 7K more in car yards. So overall we are over the moon with our 'cheapy' ..... drives superbly, everything actually works and now we can keep it maintained regularly & simply enjoy our Aurion :-) One thing I keep in mind when buying used vehicles isn't so much the actual km's travelled ... but how they are travelled. This vehicle we purchased was a country car so clocked up most of it's mileage NOT in stop start city traffic or short trips. Time will tell if my purchase was in the longer term, really good value for money of if we bought someone else's trouble :-)
  6. Isn't 99% of what we do to our vehicles basically all about 'the looks' :-) I'm considering doing the same 'conversion' to my AT-X as I think the Sportivo dash just looks like 'sex on a stick' ... later on I'll try & get the steering wheel switch set up to enable those additional functions to actually work !
  7. I have just purchased genuine Toyota towbar kit for my Aurion including the electrical harness to the trailer plug. Will be fitting it tomorrow but have read the supplied fitting instructions to get my head around it, before starting to fit it tomorrow morning. On the supplied wiring harness, there is a yellow warning tag saying if you vehicle is built post June 07 then it should already be 'pre-wired' from the factory to have power available to 'pin 2' (black wire into the flat 7 pin trailer connector plug) This is the power into your trailer that replenishes the break-a-way system battery & keeps it charged whilst the trailer is connected to the vehicle. If your vehicle is pre June 07, it may NOT have the wiring done & you will need to run the orange single core wire as per the instructions thru the inside of the vehicle to the fuse box to enable the 'harness' to have power available on 'pin 2' (black wire) The blue wire is for connecting to the brake controller output lead (blue wire on most controllers) I'm fitting a Tekonsha 'Prodigy' Mk II as they are great value for money and I have NEVER had any issues with them. I will scan the instructions tomorrow & post them if you need further clarification if your vehicle is NOT 'pre-wired' being pre June 07.
  8. I just bought some genuine Toyota seat covers for both front & back to suit our Aurion .... bought them off fleabay cheaper than what our local dealers wanted ... & they were delivered to my door !!! I had considered some aftermarket seat covers 'Esteem' by Ilanas as I had bought them previously for my 100 Series UZJ100R and they were pretty good value for money and fitted quite well. After recieving the genuine ones for the Aurion .... I was more than happy after inspecting them .... the quality & fit are simply AMAZING !!! They aren't difficult to fit .... just a bit 'fiddly' with getting the velcro straps pushed between the seat squab & the plastic surround .... once you get that done its simply a matter smoothing out the wrinkles & aligning the cover stitching with the same stitch line on the seats :-) The rears take longer as you have to remove the lower seat squab then unbolt the seat back to enable the cover to be fitted .... you can't do either in the vehicle, they need to be taken out and put on some work trestles or similar to enable fitting. Took a good couple of hours plus to fit both fronts & rears .... but WOW they look pretty darn schmick :-) Overall I'm glad I forked out the $350 for the genuine covers .... the aftermarket supplied ones just aren't anywhere near being in the same league when it come to the thickness of the actual material, the actual fit on the seats and how they look in the vehicle ! So for my 5c worth .... the genuine ones are GREAT value for money !!! I'll upload some pics once we have some daylight :-)
