  1. At the front driver side of engine, you will need a special tool to remove the oil filter,as the Aurion has a cartridge and not a oil filter like most cars.

The item is a tool with you attached to the bottom of the exterior of the filter body to gain access to the cartrdge which is housed inside.

Part number for this tool is: 09228-06501

You will need 6.10 litres oil if the oil filter cartridge replaced.

  3. It is a manufacturing fault, or the bracket on the floor it too low, which is bending down the centre console onto this bracket, then when you fit the centre console component into place, the tolarance between the surround and console are touching each other, which start the squeaking noise, as they are touching each other.

I though the console was moving when you apply you left leg against the console, but what it was, you where distorting the console more by increasing the pressure of your leg against the console which increased the noise from the 2 plastic surface rubbing each other, in which you think to tighten the screw more, in if fact you are making in worse, and bending the console more.

Taken me while to sort this out, but found what was causing the noise.

Once you place the washers under the bracket to raise the console, (eg: 2-4mm) so you are straighting out the bend in it, (cause by the screw that are holding it down the console beside the gear selection).

Once do, the centre console component is pressed into place without the 2 plastic surface rubbing each other around under the gear selection section.

  4. Do you know if the OEM wiring is at the rear of your existing radio? because there are about 10 different pins required to run this type of unit!!! not worth the time, better off getting the after market Toyota dealer version, at least you know you are going to receive your car back with a navigation unit installed, and without all the hassles of sorting the wiring out, plugs etc.

  5. Easy to fix might was the same a squeak noise while the vehicle moving, and coming for the gear lever.

Remove centre console and add 2 washers under the screw on each side(between the bracket and plastic side wall of the console,) what happening is the console have been pulled down to far, and once the selector is installed (it rubs plastic surfaces together) which make the squeak noise.

If you are a little lost, I can take some photos.

  6. Wondering how long did this took you from start to finish? Around 15 minutes from start to finished.

I was also feeling weird about pushing UP for + and down for -, but i havent think of changing them over like what you did.

After thinking for a while and imagining drive with the swap over, i think then i will feel "normal" too.

Nice, something that i hv never think of doing^^

    thanks for input~

BTW, possible to find a way to turn OFF the "ding ding" sound when you forgotten to put on seatbelt or you ARE going to, but just havent put it in yet? TAT i will surely give u a +1 for best mod for aurion TILL NOW!!

  7. Spoke to my mate at Toytoa, and what happened to the TRD that blown the engine up was that the customer thought he was in quick shift -/+ and was not!

The actual lever was in "D" for Drive and the customer pushed the lever into NETRUAL and the engine hit the rev limited to late as it was set to 6800rpm and did not catch the sudden revs of the engine, and peak the 9000 + mark and bang.

The fix was Toyota reprogrammed the revs limiter to 6600 rpm now or something like this to pickup the instant of high rev peaks.
