  1. The ones on ebay are authentic trd, so buy with confidence. I have a set from TRD HK and a set from ebay, and the only difference that I can see is a different manufacturing batch number stamped into them.

  2. so you guys reckon its a no go? i shouldn't get these ones yeh and should just get a whiteline strut?

Out of the three, I personally would go for the ultra racing front strut as it looks like it's made to handle both heavy duty street and track duties whereas the whiteline strut is ok for the street.

  3. You'll notice with the teins, the front spring on their lowest height setting, won't actually be as low as say king spring super low fronts whereas the rears can go quite low. I've always wondered why tein made them like that, but being tein, I'm sure they've put extensive r&d into them.

Also, when adjusting damping, make sure you don't go beyond 16 clicks from max hard (ie. anti clockwise). The install instructions/manuals specifically say going beyond that will cause damage to the coilover.

Good purchase by the way, they are a great street coilover.

yeah i was thinking because it takes consideration to the driver, maybe the extra weight with the engine and driver, it would make the front heavier and sink lower, so they kept it a few cm higher who knows lol.

yeah i didnt get the instructions with it, i wasn't to sure about the damper setting i know its 16 clicks but does it start from the right as in 1 and turning it anti clockwise (to the left) adjustes the damper to 16?

To adjust the damping, turn clockwise until you feel resistance where it won't click anymore (don't force it to click when you feel the resistance) - that will be the max hardest damping. From max hardest tamping turn anti-clockwise to soften the damping but don't go beyond 16 clicks anti-clockwise.

  5. Check behind the bumper to see if any bumper brackets/mounts/plastic bits have cracked. I hope you got the offenders details for an insurance claim.

I tend to avoid city street parking and will either take public transport or park in a secure car park if I have no other choice.

  6. Don't worry about the high initial debt, just keep paying off as much as you can and cut down on unnecessary expenses.

I did and my first home is fully paid off, now I'm onto the second one. Driving a corolla help me save the $$$.

  7. still haven't bought the set of rims yet but after abit more thinking, the 7" wide would be the way to go. so i've been looking at the "ROTA SLIPSTREAM" in a 15x7" they weigh in at 5.8kg a rim

ive narrowed tyres down to 2 types-either the Kumho V70a or the Toyo r888. so micky do you reckon the 195/50/15 would be better than the 205/50/15?

see the 205 will give more contact on the track but have a slightly larger rolling diameter. (195- 7.15% faster roll, 205 - 5.61% faster roll over the stock sportivo rim rolling diameter)

i'll plan my next track day and order them. anyone know the best place to get them from?

I also had my eyes on the rota slipstream and found that no shops in Australia carry rotas. Some shops can order them in, however, you'll probably get a better price going direct through ebay US or tirerack.com.

Lookup ozhonda forums, occassionally there will be a second hand set that comes up in the for sale section of the forums but they get snapped up pretty quick.

Superdave, for a smaller rolling diameter can't we use 16inch rims with a 40/45 profile tyre ?

  8. has anyone got a quote for the rear skirt from the dealers yet?

ive called my local dealer in Warwick Farm, but they rekon they dont have it. might have to try some others.

if anyone has gotten a quote, let us know so i can get an idea of prices.

Rear skirt prices are inclusive of gst:

    $420 from Castle Hill Toyota.

    $415 from Lakemba Toyota.

Prices have gone up significantly.... <_<

  9. I noticed that by having the throttle cable underneath the front strut brace, the accelerator pedal is not as responsive.

Could it be because the strut brace is pressing against the throttle cable and causing resistance of some sort ?

I know on an old exercise bike that I have where a cable is used to adjust tension in the flywheel, that by making ever so slight re-positioning of the cable it would either give me heaps of tension or less.

Anyone else notice the difference or is it placebo playing with me ?
