  1. Can anyone tell me if they are any polyurethane front stabilizer bar bushings for our ZZE123 Sportivo's. I checked Whiteline and they don't have any and I don't think Energy Suspension has any either so I'm hoping someone out there knows of a manufacturer that makes those bushings and any other bushings for our cars.

    Lol I take it that you went to westside and got your headers done, congrats, hopefully your as pleased with the outcome as I am.

    As the days have progressed since the porting you end up noticing more and more the improvements that it has done. The car feels so much easier and comfortable to drive. Alot less struggle.

    I had this big grin on my face when driving away from the workshop.

    Next person to get my ex-exhaust manifold, it's accident free with only 49K's on it, never tracked and driven by an old fart. :D

  3. Must be the way whiteline placed the stickers between production runs...

    If you look at the whiteline sticker on jaderd's photo on page 4, it appears upside down facing upwards. Then look at the sticker in my photo above.

  4. Of late I have figured out what the best handling modification is.

    Steps:

    1. Sell Sportivo

    2. Buy something like an EK Type R Civic (purpose built)

    However, I like my Sportivo, so I opted for a less extreme approach, and just bought Koni Yellow's with Lovells springs. The weigh distribution is awful in the Corolla hatch from a performance perspective, so factor this in when tuning the rebound.

    Big shout goes out to Superdave, who has become 'The Data Collector' in my eyes. Cheers for heading to the track so often man (and winning mind you). Your balls are bigger than mine that's for sure.

    Please share the damping settings, here or on owf - :lol:

    I agree, having seen some you tube clips of a certain yellow eg civic being driven around wakefield and seeing a few best motoring series featuring the eg civics and they just eat up the twisties so well. It's no surprise that hondas seem to retain their values better than corollas.

  5. I'm no expert in this area, however the following paragraph is from rta nsw web site which specifies the legal limits of increasing/decreasing wheel track width without needing an engineering certificate.

    "An important requirement for all replacement wheels is that the wheel track must not be increased by more than

    25mm beyond the maximum specified by the vehicle manufacturer for that vehicle.

    Where non original axle or suspension components are fitted, the offset of the wheel in relation to the axle or stub

    axle assembly used shall not be increased by more than 12.5mm each side of the vehicle based on the specifications

    of the axle components used. If an axle assembly is shortened then the track width limit is taken as the axle

    manufacturers original track dimension, less the amount the assembly has been narrowed, plus 25mm"

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but does this mean the lowest wheel offset we can go is 45-12.5 = +32.5mm

  6. I've only used 2, 3, and 4 on stock sportivo rims in 205/50/16

    In my opinion,

    Toyo T1R > Bridgestone RE001 > Yokohama S. Drive.

    T1R has excellent grip in wet & dry, noisy tyre once worn down. Wears quite fast.

    Brigestone RE001, good grip in wet & dry. Not noisy as far as I can hear.

    Yoko S. Drive, good grip in the dry. Wet roads, this tyre has trouble finding grip on moderate take offs. Good wear rate and quiet tyre.

    Oh that is sick... I remember one time I was on a train and someone had tied a used condom to the hand rail. It was just hanging there and a lot of the commuters didn't know and touched it as they were coming down the stairs from the top level. You coud see how disgusted they were when they soon realised what they had touched.

    But back to the original topic. If I get rims in the near future, I'd be heading to Taleb tyres and paying the extra for good customer service.

  8. I've been trying to get a hold of the boys at Kaizen Garage without success.

    I'll probably go with Lows/Superlows + KYB ExcelG, though I'm considering the toyota option springs. The only problem with them is the rear will most likely still be too high. That's a big risk seeing how they're $100 dearer than a set of Kings.

    I put standard height kings in my last corolla after having lows and it was awesome, standard had the same handling as lows, but weren't a pain in the *****.

    Also getting slotted brake discs because the factory ones need machining. Sway bar's been on back order for weeks now.

    Just another option, have you tried researching on bc street coilovers. On the ozhonda forums, people are very happy with them.

    Well after the flood of responses I got recommending an excellent mechanic for my Sportivo, I did the ring around and found Lane Toyota convenient and reasonably priced, so decided to take a chance on them.

    Was quoted $240 for a 50000km on the phone and when I arrived in the morning my paperwork listed the price as $256. Off to a bad start.

    I complain and they fix that, then I tell them specifically I'm not authorising any additional repairs outside of the book service, to which they reply it's doubtful they would need to perform any other work, sounds good considering the car is running perfect.

    Sure enough, a few hours later I get the dreaded call. Tragedy has struck, not only are my injectors horribly clogged, but alas, my power steering fluid is in dire need of replacement.

    I politely declined their offer of reaming my wallet of $130 for injector cleaning and $100 for power steering fluid replacement, and am yet again disappointed in the quality of service provided these days.

    I have to wonder about the quality of the overall service now I know they are the kind of workshop that will try and dupe unsuspecting owners into paying for crap they don't need.

    My advice, avoid Lane Toyota. The search for a good Toyota mechanic continues.

    All toyota dealers call you up after you bring the car in for service and recommend that you do the injector service. I think the girl at service desk reception is on a commission for selling this extra to you. They always call me to have it done after I drop the car off for service, for which I politely decline as I did not budget for it.
