  1. Thanks for your reply's.

As I mentioned the Speedo on the Aurion seems to read about 9% faster than the TomTom. I can Imagine that Toyota would set it to read faster for saftey and stop people getting booked. But it also gets the car in for a service at closer intervals.

It's good to have an idea of your true speed.

    Thanks again

  2. Hi,

I have noticed a difference in the speedometer reading when traveling on the freeway at 119km/hr (approx. on the speedo dial with cruse control on on a flat road), the TomTom says that I am traveling at less 110km/hr.

How accurate whould you think the TomTom is when your speed is consistant ?

    Thanks in advance

  3. Hi,

Just go back from the snow and I though I would mention that I saw a new black Aurion on the road, number plate "TRD-001" looked cool, think it had 19" mags when getting a close look the first time.

    Saw it twice:-

First getting loaded onto an NRMA truck at "Adamimity" Ampol servo (not 100% sure on the spelling there) then 1/2 an hour later just east of the Mt Selwyn turn off. Just after seeing it the 2nd time there was a bunch of people on the side of the road with a big movie camera on a tripod and lighting etc while they were controlling traffic. My thought is they may have been making an add ?

Most of them had a bit of a geek at my car as I was driving past, that's why I though they may have been filming the TRD Aurion.

Would have been a good time to film, every thing was pure white as far as you could see, except for the road & the Aurion (TRD).

  4. Hi,

The Aurion is smooth, reliable (so far), powerful, comfortable & value for money. But as you are aware it's not a status symbol car like a Lexus or a Beama.

It's the best car I've owned in 20 yrs.

In research, if your doing lots of "km's" and need support if you break down, there are lots more toyota service places than BMW

Hope your desision is a good one

  5. I remember reading somewhere that the TRD was meant to be a better/refined drive, not HSV V8 killer. eg. like a BMW's are to drive compared to a Commodore.

Why would it take on FPV/HSV when its a FWD V6

Don't remember saying that it was taking on the HSV ? They were aiming it more towards the Liberty GT (as someone else mentioned).

  6. Hi,

I have just bought some throw overs instead and modified them. eg just cut them where they wrap around the door side of the car seat so they are just flapping around (re-stiched so they dont fray). Looks a little uglyer, but should be OK. Main aim is to pretect the cloth seat.

PS. I bought polyester/nylon ones, looks good but VERY bad choice due to makes you hot & sweaty.

  7. I have one on the Sx6, will charge the batterys on the camera and take a picture tommorow if you wish.

It's a genuine installed towbar. Toyota said that they would be better due the the LED tail lights needs some special circuitry. (Probably a con to get more money) but still happy.

  8. Hi all,

They state it halves the fuel costs with 0 power loss. Just though I'd put this info accross, it's more of a personal choice like most things. But not for me unless i'd x3 the km's that i am currently doing.
