  1. Thanks guys,

I did it on the week end & all worked fine. I used metho to remove the gunk & cleaning wax to remove the residue, but it wasn't easy work, will use Eucalyptus Oil as suggested next time.

Removed the "Aurion" , "Sportivo" & left he Sx6 badge there for now, but it will probably go too. & yes I was left with the gunk on the back of the badge as well (but expected), couldn't be bothered as yet to remove that. Thinkig of putting the Sportivo badge somewhere else, maybe the grill ??

Thanks for your advice about the removal.

  2. Hi,

I too was going to buy the Lib or Forester Turbo, but the Aurion was just better value money. The Sub'ies have a better resale value etc are reliable, but cost more to buy, repair & service.

I drove an XR6 the other day and it was a lot more toey at low revs (torque), great around the corners but I wanted something different rather than another Falcon. I think the Aurion is slow to respond to make it a smother ride, unsure ??

Have a look in these posts, otrher guys have done a mod for an AUX input to the sound system.

    Happy riding

  3. Hi,

I want to remove a copule of the badges form the rear boot (personal preference). Is there any technique ? I take that they just peal off then clean the crap that is left behind ? I'll leave the big ugly toyota symbol.

    Thanks

  4. I little off topic.

I find when I use protectent such as ArmourAll it leaves a reflective finish. This causes a bit of distraction when driving becuase it reflects back off the windscreen.

I did buy a cheap black travel rug for a while and place it on the dash. This helped cut the sun and reflections and heat on the dash ........

  5. Tranmission Flare

As posted elsewhere, transmission flare has been logged and sent to Japan, so Im waiting for them to make a decsion and fix it. Therefore everyone who has this problem needs to get their dealer to send a report to Japan

Our local Toyora has also reported the issue, so this is good. Is yours between 3&4th gear ?

They said that if it had to be fixed it "may" have to go to Sydney to be fixed (Terry Shields Toyota who specialise in Toyota Transmissions), so that may mean a week or so. Will see what they say.

In the mean time I have a gaping hole where the raido use to be. It had to be sent to FujutsuTen to be fixed/replaced.

Other than that, all seems well with my car.

  6. Hi,

Yes I have a genuine towbar but no stabiliser bars and it goes fine. Up Bulladela (cant spell), changes back a gear and keeps to it's 110km/hr no probs. Obviously uses more fuel, around the 10/11 ltr/100km on the highway.

I take it that your poptop has brakes ?

Toyota recommended that I get it factory/dealer installed something about the LED tail lights (& I did), that could have been to get more money as well....

Any comments on reliability of the car and cost of spares and accessories?

Aurion is a Toyota, so you will find it to be more reliable than most Australian cars makes. I got a 6 yr warranty with fixed service costs, $120 frist 3 & $170 next 3yrs, providing I take it back to my local Toyota place.

Cost, it costed less than $500 (new & factory, with brakes option), a little more expensive than going to JoeBlow but convenient.

I,m not really excited about moving into a 4WD etc. (Re. your good advice on turbo diesel).

Me too, I did have a think about it but it would take more garage space and cost more etc.

  7. Hi,

I have used "United" Boost98 thinking that I was getting a good deal but after a few tests, it gets around 0.5ltr/100km worse that Vortex98 on the same road trips (500km)

    eg.

    Vortex98 = 7.4

    Boost98 = 7.9

I get about the same out of the "United, e10 95 octane compared to the boost98". I might give the Shell stuff ago as well

After reading the Shell web site onn the V-Power racing, not all cars benifit from the additional octane rating, but as previous posts, they were good figures.

  8. Personally I think anything over 20inch is to much.... like 22inch on an Aurion would look strange not to mention very impractical, you'd want to keep 4 spare tyres in your boot because every reasonably sized pothole becomes a potential blowout.

I agree, anything over 20" you will start to look like a "fullysick" guy. My preference would be a 19" but everyone has differnt tastes.

  9. Good work Paul,

    Just a side comment.

A friend installed a mobile phone kit a month ago. He had the console, clock with vents + the radio out in less than five minutes. I was impressed anyway. He mentioned that the wiring loom and Toyota havn't changed there colour coding in years. After that he mentioned thst the dimmer wire was not there (the hole next to the yellow wire). Now I'm not 100% sure whether he ment the radio panel dimmer of the plastic surrounding the radio.

Maybe we could approch Toyota that this is a safety issue, Noel sounds like he has one ? I live in a new street Noel, and I think they skimp on 40 watt street lights so it's very dark too.

  10. Look on the bright side, maybe you will have more time to detail the car ??

Sorry, bad sence of humour. Maybe you could appeal if a doctor would to back you up. That may reduce your fine if anything.

Back to the topic. Does this void the warranty ?

    Best of luck

    Adrian
