  1. If you buy an amp that allow you to connect high input signal directly then you do not need the RCA converter
  2. Hi Melanie, How are you? I have the same car as you with similar upgrade that you wanted. I can tell you that the head unit has six speakers out put, four at the front and two at the rear. The power out put is not that powerful, 50 watts max per channel max. It depend on what you want, but If you want to keep it stock as possible then just change the two rear speakers and add in an extra sub, that would give you plenty of power and bass. I would not go larger than 10 inch for the sub and it takes up a lot of room and require more power amps. To run an amp in your car you first needs to convert the rear speaker signal coming out from the head unit into RCA signal and that can be done with a RCA signal converter. You will need two of it. They are not expensive and most audio shop will have them. Once you have the RCA signal, buy a RCA splitter and a four channels amp, two RCA for the speakers and two bridged down for the sub. I know this may sound technical and I dont expect you to understand what im saying nor for you to go and do all this on your car but i want you to at least understand that it should not cost an arm or leg to have this upgrade. It's really quick and easy for any audio shop to install. I hope this help in some way. All the best.
  3. Hi Richard, Sorry i took so long to update to you about my clock issue. I have good new, i finally fixed it and it didnt require a second hand clock. I came across the answer searching youtube one day, i saw a post about fixing the Camry clock by refreshing the soldering join on the clock circuit board. I gave it a try and it worked! Pay close attention to resistor 12R0, there are four of them. Good luck Richard.
  4. Nah not yet, haven got time. Try a search on gumtree there are lot of wreckers around.
  5. If any one is up for the challenge i can point you in the right direction.
  6. Well it certainly a challenge for me but i finally successfully converted my 2003 camry key into a flip key with all functional buttons. I strongly suggest to have a dremal or something close to it because there will lot of drilling and shaving to make it fit.
  7. Well it combine your fob and key together as one unit instead of having the key poking holes in your pocket all the time. The 2003 camry fob is a pain because toyota don't allow you to open it. the fob is a one unit piece glue together, to open it you would have to cut it open. there are no flip key shell on ebay that would fit the fob circuit.
  8. Has any one attempted to mod a camry 2003 key/fob into a flip key style?
  9. Leave it as it is looks good already. After all it just a camry meant to be a family car dont over do it.
  10. Need more info man. What exactly do you mean by noisy? Noise from the wind? Or noise from the squeaky of the door frame?
  11. Found a wrecker nearby will try to look for that clock again. I will let u guys know if it work or not.
  12. Hey Richard, I don't know the specific part name but i just called it the "clock unit'. Take a picture of it on your phone before you go to the wrecker's yard, that might help them to understand what your talking about. Good luck, let me know it goes.
  13. How much did you paid for your second hand clock unit?
  14. My central locking stopped working the same time as my clock started playing up. But now the central locking is working fine but the clock is dead.
  15. I Might try with another clock unit then. I will keep you guys posted.
  16. Not really, just like to have it working again.
  17. I'm sure that the one I replaced with is still working. How did your one died before? did it gradually fade away? Mine did just that and now it completely dead.
  18. Come on man did you not read my other post? I already tried with another working clock unit, still no success.
  19. You are right, 1'' is not going to make much of a difference. However, if you start talking big increase like stock 205 to 245 then there might be problem with handling. On smooth surfaces you won't notice much but on uneven surfaces you will be grabbing your wheel to hang on for your dear life.
  20. I want my clock and my fuel consumption gauge back!
  21. I have tried checking opening the clock unit to check if there's a break in the circuit, no success. Have tried to trace back to where the clock unit is connected (to the ECM) and checked all the connection but also no luck. The only thing I have not done is take it to the electrician or Toyota, which I know is going to cost me lots.
  22. Not meant to have two different sets of wheels on. Your car is not set up for that combination. Go back to the original rim. Sorry that is all i could advise to you.
  23. Guys, i would not trust ebay dvd/gps unit they are low quality, unreliably and the seller is 10,000k away from you. Buy from an established audio shop at least you can always drive back and complain. Always dvd whether dingle din or double din these day they all allow you to connect rear view camera. The take home message is what you pay is what you get.
  24. Be careful with wider wheels it will cause your car to sway over uneven surfaces. To have wider wheels you change every things, which includes new spring and shock, adjustable cam, new sway bar, new link rods and have it all fitted and adjust properly. Too much work for just looks. Better off buying a new car that already made to fit bigger rims. That is my two cents. Take it or leave it.
  25. Change your air filter to a K&N, clean your mass air sensor with mass air sensor cleaner (not wd40) and add it 98 octane fuel.
