  1. Nice Pippy...  B)

oi i keep seeing u'r car, that parking ticket thing must cost you millions i have to park about 1.5km away from uni but at least its in a garage.

hey dude! haven't seen you for a while! (you or your car!)

i have to come to uni for (study and work) at like 8am each morning... so i'm a bit lucky that i can get a park there! ;)

but in terms of price, its not too bad! :D a blue staff permit is about $260 for a year! (but no garantees on spcae availablities)

    uni parking sux... :(

    catch up sometime! ;)

  2. im thinking of putting in a CAI.

    Good thought!! ;)

What kinda of responce increase/performance do u get?

depends on which one, but usually about a comfy 5kw (with ecu reset) you'll notice a smoother acceleration and a smoother power curve (on dyno)

where is the best place to buy it /install it?

    Buying

TRD = New Zealand blokes (look at the sticky at the top of the forum)

AEM, etc = Online shops, or from singapore. (Quantium racing does AEM in brisbane, but not that good on price)

    Prices

    TRD = AUD $470~$490 Shipped

    AEM = AUD $320~450 Shipped

    Simota = $200~350 Shipped

    etc = shop around! ;)

Installation = your on garage, its not that hard!

The TRD ones have awesome highend power...

AEM slightly less highend but a bit more torque on mid range....

(The 2 main ones used by most members...)

Simota is the other one i would try, more affordable, and looks very similar to the TRD one, but just slightly smaller diameter in the piping... :)

    Hope this helps.

  3. mate there are many topics on this if you search.

Yes, but doesn't look like you've read any of it judging from what you're saying...

CAI wont improve performance by much at all if at all.

most get em for the sound and to say they have a cai.

WRONG! That's actually the best excuse to save some money...

the price range will be from $50 ebay cheapo to $300+ for trd injen aem.

    Yay~! some correct info! :D

the only way a cai will make a diff is mainly with turbo/supercharged cars or maybe if you had headers/ecu/exhaust/cat. but even then probably wont make much of a diff.

Dude.... with CAI, Headers, Exhaust, ECU... you're looking at a good 20kw atw gain... if not more... i dont know what you're on about...

besides, you're missing the point too... force feeding the car without proper clutch upgrade, LSD, you won't get very far either. DO YOUR RESEARCH! (or just use some common sence)

anyway it wont stop me getting one lol

nod nod... coz you know it actullay gives you gains, or that you just don't know coz YOU DON'T HAVE ONE?!

    (sounds excellent)(looks good)

yay! 2 points for you sunny!

but if you buy one make sure you get bypass valve so water doesnt get to the engine mate.

SO WATER DOESN'T GET TO YOUR ENGINE?! i'd like to know where you drive your car?! New Orleans?! Its not like you're a freaking primary kid that has to jump or ride your bike into big puddles of water!! besides, for the water to get in... you'll have to be in pretty deep water!! i.e. about half a metre!

btw... don't get offended here, but seriously give opinions of things you have facts to back yourself with, or make comments without opposing real facts, other wise you'll get flamed.... :D

    peace bro.

  4. trucks are trucks,

give them the space they need and the respect, they might do the same in return.

and don't complain about them if you haven't driven one before either.

i tend to stay well away from them, not only for that factor but the amount of **** they tend to flick up

  5. 1. Take it off again, MAP81 and myself had the same problem, just lube it.

    2. Toyota doesn't follow the torque settings, cos we couldn't even move the bolt on shao one, even with the rattle gun on full blast.

    3. Torque setting is so you can actually take it off the next time for this particular case.

    :) have fun!

when i had some noise... it was when i snapped the rear sway... :D TWICE!!

oh.. and the fronts will be noisy too, but that's just the bushes... again... clean and lube.

  6. just quick question......

    i've got corolla levin 2005..

tail lights size is same to 2004 ????

    it's bit urgent.... thanks!!

yeah... they're the same... but i think the pre-facelift and post-facelift take slightly different wiring...

anyway... isn't this thread about headlights?

  7. I won't know their nicknames on the forums, and some don't exist on forum but can be located at cardomain.com. I remember the dude who turboed his car, and became the 1st to do it on 9th generation corolla, his nickname is crovax.

Also, don't forget, search for older model corolla. USA got 1zz-fe ever since the previous generation corolla, unlike us who got 1zz on current model. Don't forget Matrix owners also have 1zz-fe. So is Celica GT. Each one of this model with 1zz-fe has been turboed in america. So is MR-S (MR2). And if the turbo kit is made for Matrix, it has been confirmed that it will fit Corolla. But you can copy what they did to the other model with 1zz-fe. So don't look on just corolla alone.

Your best guide to turboing your 1ZZ-FE, is to talk to monkeywrenchracing. I forgot their website, but they have this turboed MR-S that makes 300 plus ponies with internal mods, pretty hardcore I must say.

yo danz! i can back you up on this one...

    http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/

and guys.... ffs.... do some reading and research... we don't just know these things... what we learn and know are knowledge we've gained over time!!

grimlock would back me up on this too... we also learn things and increase our knowledge by actually going ahead and doing it...

    :D somethings aren't that hard...

  8. understand the nature and concepts of Diesel engines and what/why they are used for then you'll have a different view point towards their use.

its like trying to compare a 2-stroke vs a 4-stroke engine...

diesel engines produces decent torque, and they last forever due to the lubricating properties of diesel. As diesel doesn't like burning, and when it does, it burn heaps hotter, so high reves would be difficult (so forget lift).

It in a class of it's own... for anyone that's driven a diesel would value its properties, but in terms of performance when compared to petrol engines it still has a fair way, but everything else diesel might as well win out... :)

  9. it costs heaps, like $3 - 4 a pin :|

dude! if it costs $3~4 a pin even if you replace them all, say 12 pins at $4 its still under $50 to pix the problem! :D

anyway.... another thing could be the speaker mounts. Are the 6.5inch? coz i know some installs by shops are dodge... they don't used the proper "padding" between the mount, door, speaker, or simply the bolt/screws securing the speaker isn't holdin properly.

Anyway... just some pointers that seemed to fixed a lot of my problems.... ;)

  10. i think, no one here in this forums care about the emissions.....

going for a bigger pulley. is that gonna be easy to find? or do i go to C.A.P.A and get them fabricate one...?

how do they figure out how much boost it wil make?

    boost meter maybe?!

besides, why would you be concerned if you were going to get them to make you one anyway?!

i think the tip from me would be...

get one first.... then worry about the rest...

boost it up anymore think about your internals / fuel supply...

  11. http://www.toysport.com/webpages/WebUpdate...rts/1zzfeSC.htm

here's some basic figures.... but based on the matrix.

mind you, when you go for kind of mod you'll be looking at a heap of other stuff.... (as many of us has already discussed... Danz, shao etc etc...)

you'll need a new clutch, while you're at it... flywheel, LSD (if you can afford it) and the list goes on...

the clutch and flywheel and suspension alone is able to increase your 1/4 mile speed from (in case on my car or northy's old 1zz) from about 16.4 (avg) to 15.9 seconds....

so... you'll be looking at other variables and not the S/C solely...

read more and do more to your car then you'll understand and appreciate the importance of other mods....

Power isn't everything. On the street, Torque wins! if you have the right rubber and is able to put the power down on a SC 1ZZ, a 2ZZ with CAI etc etc would be given a good run.... Check the FAT torque curve....

2ZZ might win on peak power, but on launch if driven proper the SC 1zz would be a breath taker!
