  1. I must say, our ZZE corolla looks insanely stupid stock.

On a stock to stock comparison, i'd say the AE112 looks better.

Similarly, on a stock to stock comparison, i think the new ZRE has the upper hand on the ZZE. It is an improvement, again, mildly done up on the exterior i think it would be a close call.

However, look around some of the jap kits for the new corolla do make them look very aggressive and much more 'modern' than our cars.

not to say i don't love my car, but still, when done up i think they look better.

    cheers.

  2. Haha,

its a jap car held together with clips and cable ties, of coz its gonna rattle. :P

seriously tho, tell us more information about when the rattling occurs and what sort of rattling.

Cases could be, rattles during acceleration, only when crusing, or only at idling... i think a few people had similar problems in different areas where wiring or simple clips or even pedals rattle at a particular RPM where it just resonates.

So tell us more about it.

  3. Dude,

I think he was refering to the model of corolla that majority of people have on this forum. However, what you say is true tho, the new ones does have projectors.

As for the 02-06 corollas, they can be customed into our housing, and i know a shop overseas that does them. however it does hit you up about $500AUD for just the mods excluding the projector housing and shipping.

  4. Sounds like the case of waiting for the current bill to be paid off or just simply waiting for the next cash flow to come in. Whether it be pay cheque or allowance. :P

Come on... we all know that feeling... the urge to do things to our car... and we all tend to choose the power to go fast over the power to stop fast.

Catch up on the shopping... another bill of similar size to the power upgrades for everything else... then you have a nice balanced car. Then it comes down to the driver... :P

  5. The times can be different on a series of factors,

    - Weight: already covered

    - Suspension: depends on how well the suspension is able to hold the car down when you put the power down (relates to weight), the suspension setup is better on a civic on a stock to stock comparison

    - Tyres: again, how well you grip would depend how far and hard you are able leap forward

    - Gear ratio: Civics and most hondas have VERY sporty and well arranged gear ratios (try a 80km rolling in a 1zz to any honda, you wouldn't stand a chance)

    - VTEC: well... that's almost trying to compare VVT-i with VVTL-i only VTEC is more aggressive

The civics rev up to 7600rpm, with similar compression ratio to 1zz-fe, better thought out exhaust system offering a fatter torque and power band on better power to weight ratio.

Now, i'd be surprised if the 1ZZ-FE won to be honest.

    I still love my 1ZZ tho! :P

  6. It wasn't put there for no reason.

Just like the rest of the plastic covering the underbody, the 'L' shaped bit of plastic is to provide more downforce when travelling at high speeds.

By theory, sportivos should be more stable than normal 'open bottom' corollas at high speeds.

Simply study the underbody of sports cars, or more simply, why did CONE make the underbody plate?

    cheers.

the way they are facing would create lift rather then downforce tho....

It actually encourages the air to go around, i believe.

watch more best motoring, they explain it very well! :)

  7. It is released in several countries. Just like the 1ZZ-FE, the 1.6 is a 3ZZ-FE using the same pistons but long stroke.

The ZZE corolla does come in a 4WD, which was used in the UK to transplant a 3SGTE making some stupid 550 horses and then a bit. The 4WD doesn't come with 2ZZ-GE, mainly 1ZZ-FE.

but yes, its interesting to see the part only released for the 1.3.

    Cheers.
