  1. See the dealer was lying, he just wants a sale. How can these people sleep at night knowing that sale will really affect the person buying.
  2. Wouldnt touch it! If they upgraded them in 2013 then why not upgrade the previous diesel to the same one and im pretty sure some people in here have the 14 model with the same issue? Im so mad at toyota still for practically robbing me of over $10,000 and making me get into more debt by trading and buying another model. If i can give you once piece of advice that would be "dont buy toyota". They dont care about selling dodgy cars nor fixing them. They ruined my first ever brand new car experience and ill never get that back..
  3. Minor defect? Ha that makes me laugh, they call running out of oil a minor defect? Im still cranky 6 months after trading my rav in as i lost money by doing so and my ute has no where near as much features as the rav had. When i had the rav i had to fight to get any work done and felt like they were trying to fob me off all the time. It was like the raised the hoop every visit and expected me to try jump through it. I miss my rav it was my first brand new car.
  4. My advice - steer clear of Toyota cars as they are a huge pain to deal with and side step the laws as they know that most of us can't afford to take them to court to win.

I saw mine at the Toyota dealership for sale, they traded it at $27,600 and said they would make a loss on it, the advertised sticker on it said $39,000 but a week later it was reduced to $34,000. They didn't fix it as it was in the yard for sale barely a week after I traded it in. Some poor bugger is going to get totally ripped off when they buy it.

  7. I had the rebuild and my oil ran out completely after 5000 ks. I didn't want to fight them so in the end we traded it in. We lost money as I was given $27,600 trade in ( and we had to fight like hell to get that amount). Toyota know it will cost us a lot of money to fight them ( yes we might win in the end but is it worth it?) I'm interested to hear how you get on. I'm very disappointed that I lost a lot of money, it was my first brand new car and Toyota ruined that for me. Now I have a ute, a good ute with no oil consumption problems but I don't have the reverse camera or the auto gearbox ( which by the I'm still adjusting to driving a manual again after years of driving an auto). You have to weigh up the costs, is it worth it to fight them? Can you get a class action law suit happening? Can we who have traded get in on it? Having lost money due owning a rav? I would love to know what happens so please keep me informed.
  8. Open a case with the ACCC and demand a refund.Toyota will now offer you a new motor which no doubt will be the same motor they originally put in it, demand a full refund. I wish we stood our ground and fought but being 1.10 mins from town I needed a working car.
  9. Oh I have genuine black rubber front and back floor mats and a genuine black rubber cargo mat for this rav. The bastards are not getting these as they were extras which cost a fair amount of money. So as I have no need for them if any one lives near newcastle or can get them freighted I'm selling the lot for $100 From memory I paid $600 + If anyone has had the rebuild or not and is interested contact me. They are in excellent condition and are genuine Toyota products.
  10. I doubt they will sell my rav, I reckon they will send it back claiming it's faulty and get a refund from Toyota ( my husband is sure of it, as they offered $21,000 trade in but after fighting we got them up to $27,680)
  11. Don't agree to a rebuild. Tell them they sold you a lemon and the ACCC said to demand a full refund. Tell them this is a wide spread problem which Toyota are choosing to ignore.
  12. And when I say 39 days to fix well that's a minor defect, a major defect is where you can claim a full refund or another car of equal value ( does not have to be a rav)
  13. Go into your dealership and ask to speak to the manager. Tell him you believe you were sold a lemon. Tell him you spoke to the ACCC and they have said that the dealership is at fault not Toyota. Tell him you have evidence to support the fact that Toyota sold you this car fully knowing it had a major defect. Tell him it's consumer law that he refund or replace your vehicle if it has a major fault. Tell him if they refuse to fix this today then you will be taking them to department of fair trading. My dealership manager said Toyota will try every trick in the book to get out of this and they will try wash their hands of you. See Toyota isn't at fault not in the eyes of consumer law, the dealer is as he sold you a car to which you believed was exactly as they described and in full working order, it's not, it has a major fault and repairing it won't fix it. Your dealership is obliged to repair your car and not run back to Toyota for approval ( they go back to Toyota first to cover their butts so they arnt out of pocket as they know how difficult Toyota can be paying them). Tell them you will take them to a/ affair and bring with them the 15 other people on this forum and file a class action law suit. Print off the lemon law, read it, study it, so you know your rights, I even took it with me to show them. It says on that law that they have 30 days I think in which to fix your car ( something like that). It's the dealership who must fix this, they are at fault and they are the ones fair trading will fight ( of course the dealership will then bring Toyota into it). If it goes to fair trading, the fight gets ugly, they look bad and stand to loose their licence, so they don't want to go there trust me. If all else fails ring fair trading and fight them. If you can't get a refund, tell them you don't want the rebuild, tell them you brought a new car with a new motor and your dammed if they are going to change that new motor to a reconditioned one ( as basically it is). I would however advise you stand your ground for a FULL refund and walk away from Toyota. Our manager at first said he couldn't do anything but my husband kept throwing the laws at him, the statements from the lemon law. We said in the end look mate we want to work with you not against you so how about you work with us. I told him if this goes to ac affair your sales will drop, your reputation will be tarnished as people trust your company. If we took them to fair trading I would have got my refund in full but I told my husband to take the deal we eventually agreed in as I just wanted to be done with that company ( my husband wanted to fight them, fight them all the way but it's my car so he let me have it my way). You do not have to take what they offer you and you do not have to wait until the motor is rebuilt to then fight them again. We have rights and they can no longer pass the buck. It's time you all went in there and said this is the first step, the next step is court action via the fair trading and it will be your dealership we fight not Toyota. Toyota will blame the dealership as the dealership sold you the car and will find them negligent.
  14. Oh and we proved the bull bar excuse to be false, the only way they could use my bullbar to void my warranty was to prove this had caused my oil consumption which we all know isn't the case. The manager did say today that Toyota know there is an issue and will often wipe their hands of you unless you take them to the fair trading and fight them via them.
  15. Just updating you all on my rav. Today we spent hours at the dealership demanding something be done, we also voiced our opinion on the fact that they were trying to rip us off ( again). Long story short they refused to redund the purchase price of the rav and said Toyota would agree to a new motor being installed, we said you rebuilt it and that didn't work so we won't agree to that. We argued and argued and eventually they came close to my payout figure and we sold the rav back to them. Of course I'm out of pocket by $3000 however I feel I'm okay with this as I now don't have to deal with Toyota ! We brought a new triton dual cab ute today and are pleased Toyota and their lemon rav are out of our lives for ever. Use the statements in the lemon law, we did ( my husband did I should say). I just sat and cried as I couldn't take the stress of any of this anymore. Keep fighting and I'll keep watching here to see how you all get on.

  17. I wish I had better news to tell you all but I don't. After a long and very trying day I'm here to fill you all in. The rebuild did nothing and my car is still using excessive oil ( ran out this time completely after 5000ks). The dealership in scone today told me they had to ring toyota for further instructions and I told them no according to the lemon law ( which I had printed and took with me) says that it's the dealership at fault not the toyota company and the dealership must refund your vehicle price or replace your vehicle with another one of same value when major defects are found and they then must fight toyota for any costs not trail us along. So they sent me to my dealership which is muswellbrook. Muswellbrook a manager said he would ring around and get back to me. The new car manager saw me and said my warrenty Was now void as I have a non toyota bullbar on my car. Now toyota don't make bull bars for the ravs only nudge bars. I told him when I brought the car that the salesman told me where to go to get my bullbar ( which by the way is an expensive tough brand bullbar and professionally made for the rav). He gave me such a story that I started to believe him. He promised to give me a brand new triton for the same value and keep the same repayments. But.. After applying for finance to end one contract and start another ( which I didn't sign) I noticed the paperwork. They were trying to charge me $39,000 for a $32,000 triton and adding the extra $7000 onto my trade in price so it looked like I was getting more for my trade in. I left very confused, used and ****** off! After coming home I learnt he was full of poo ( to put it politely) and simply tried to con me by making me think my bull bar had voided my warrenty so they could handle this without warrenty involved. Long story short I'm consulting my solicitor tomorrow to take the dealership to court along with suing for damages for stess and loss of income. I can no longer deal with these lying cheats and the stress is beginning to take it's toll on me. They tried to say my bullbar was preventing circulation in my motor therefore causing the excessive oil consumption. I said that's funny we all must have big bull bars on the forum to all have the same dramas. I highly recommend you read the lemon law ( google it). We have the right to demand our money back or a new car and they know it. Tomorrow I'm calling the accc and department if fair trading. If you would like to be included in the law suit please let me know and I will get my solicitor to email you. Enough is enough. Toyota it's time you stopped selling lemons and make things right.
  18. I'm seriously contemplating getting a lawyer and fighting this stupid company once and for all.
  19. Well.... As most of you know my engine was rebuilt last month, it was checked 2 days ago with no oil missing. Well this afternoon my husband went to pick up our son and got 10 minutes down the road and guess what " the fricken oil light came on again, oil checked, no oil! I've done about 5000ks. I thought I smelt the oil burning smell yesterday but assured myself all would be okay as they put the new rings and pistons and head gasket in, how wrong I was. This is the same as before my rebuild, every 5000 ks I run out of oil. The rebuild I believe has done squat. So Monday unless they can find an oil leak I'm demanding a brand new non rav vehicle and compensation for my bullbar and driving lights. Oh and I just lost my job as I was not able to attend work again due to this car so they are really going to hear it from me Monday. Not happy not happy one bit.
  20. Sorry that comment was meant for H4RD. Talbit: how are you going with your rav? Has your dealership finally agreed to rebuild your motor? Keep pestering them and complaining and don't give up.

Newbie: you did well getting the dealership to agree on an engine overhaul so fast, it took me 6 months to get them to do mine and with them saying 2 weeks for repairs yeah good luck with that as it took 3 months for them to rebuild mine. First they have to pull the motor out then measure the parts then order them and then put most of it back together and then they measure the head gasket and order that and on and on. All I did was fight and fight to get them to repair mine. They know there is an issue with the diesel 13 ravs as a lot of us have had rebuilds and some are still fighting to get their car fixed. What really annoyed me was the fact that they were only prepared to buy my then 6 month old rav with driving lights and accs added and a $4000 bull bar ( which new cost me about $43,000) for $21,000, yep $21,000 to take their (@@@@@@) up car back, I told them where to shove their $21,000 I tell you. Update: it's been a month now since I got my rav back and so far I have no drop in my oil, I've noticed the steering is a little off balance so I will bring that up with them next service. I finally got a new oil cover ( waited more than 5 months for that one) and I'm waiting on a replacement wind shield as they broke it while in the shop. Fuel economy is better than before the rebuild. I'm still waiting on my paper work for the rebuild and will chase that up this week, I personally think they don't want to provide it but it's my right to keep it and will need it should I ever decide to sell.
  22. The synthetic oil they were using in my rav was vavoline synpower env c2.5 w30 ( this of course didn't solve my oil consumption problem and every 5000 ks I would run out of oil completely). Update: I have my rav back ( finally!). The rebuild took 3 months to complete, so far I have incurred no issues. I'm now getting roughly 750-800 ks a tank of fuel ( before I was lucky if I got 650). They broke my side wind shield while it was in the workshop so I'm waiting on a replacement for this. I have asked for a copy of the repairs and was told it has not been invoiced yet to Toyota ( I won't forget and will chase this up and obtain one for our records). I will keep you all updated. The last 6 months were very stressful as I literally had to fight tooth and nail to get anything done, let's hope i have no more excessive oil consumption now the rebuild is complete. Merry Christmas :)
  23. Your lucky they rebuilt it so quickly, Toyota made me wait until 55,000 ks before agreeing to rebuild my motor my problems started at 10,000 ks. Update : my rav is still at the workshop it's been there for 6 weeks now. I think the staff got sick of me ringing as they now ring me to update me on the progress. The parts are due in this week all except the head gasket as this can't be ordered until the rings and pistons are fitted and measurements done. Toyota was kind enough to loan me a car for free and I'm being very kind and running up it's ks for them. I'm not upset with the service department the staff there are brilliant but Toyota as a company really need major training in customer service, empathy and how to be honest with their clients.
