  1. If you are looking for a well built relaible luxury car then the Presara is it. I bought one and I am am happy to tell people I bought a new Toyota. Most peple think its a camry or a mazda 6 to look at and are impressed when they get in it. The lexus is very nice too but even less exciting to drive and well overpriced in comparison for what you get and unless the badge and better resale or trade at end of lease make up the difference to you I would say the Presara is the pick of the bunch. Stay away from the Peugeot and BMW as both are cars with nice charater but can be costly and awkward to repair and not as reliable as the marque status would suggest. I have found the Presara quite an understated car it looks pretty average but inside its very comfortable, very hi tech and you really do not lack for anything. things you have to optionin the BMW and Peugeot costing thousands extra. Driving it it rides extremely well and handles well fairly flat cornering but bland steering with just understeer no back off oversteer available courtesy of the VSC which is a bit intrusive for a sporting driver. the traction control is handy and not as intrusive as the VSC on dirt roads. Overall for me an IT sales rep who does a few city k and country trips its a smooth and quiet reliable car with plenty of power and gadgets. Suits me fine. it doesn't stand out in the driveway or car park but thats fine too.
  2. The DTE seems pretty vague really. I am on the E but not below with 0km on the DTE dispaly and the low fuel light on and the fill was 59.57litres! so i would have had 10 litres left good for 100k on the freeway 50 odd around town. I am not sure I wanted to test it out but 10 litres left on Empty
  3. My Aurion at first start up in six degrees does rev a bit too but only about 1500rpm in neutral. the first time gear selection it does clunk into gear with those revs on board but within 5km its 100% normal. The ECU controls the idle speed but there are other things that could be making it rev too high like a faulty or not connected vacum hoses somewhere. may be normal if its dammned cold out your way i dont know but worth getting looked at. Not a home hobby thing to tinker with anymore though.
  4. Thanks I have activated the Toyotalink by mobile phone and yes you can activate it but unless the dealer initialises the unit in predelivery it dont go. Bill Buckle forgot to do it. I guess that shows they haven't been selling many Presaras with Toyotalink! I did ring them they told me i have to press the hospital button to turn it on. no kidding! I will worry about it at first service of corse we will have to have a little discussion about the subscription expiry date then too won't we.
  5. From the album: PRESARA

This is the Preara in Stone interior trim which is an option to the black leather interior on a few of the exterior colours only. Presara has the satnav as standard with the bluetooth phone capability which is nice and handy 4 stck CD only though.
  6. I bet something like this has happened with the black plastic cup holders being removed and not put back and the lid jammed shut on them in factory or predelivery. Whats the bet??? Who knows what really happened. As long as the cars new, toyota should take care of it instantly. İts only a cup holder cover, im sure its easy to fix. :) Well of course it sounds easy take the car in have a look order the parts take it back again u know all at no cost to me

  8. Toyotalink are pretty good the 1300 number is answered any time so you can get to them from a mobile which is handy. My car doesn't answer so it looks like the Toyotalink module has never been turned on even though it is activated on the system the car module hasn't been turned on. This should have been done in dealer predelivery? I am supposed to take it back to get it fixed.
  9. My new Presar fron cup holder cover is jammed. you press lightly to release and it doesn't flip up at all never has not from the showroom. Anyone know the trick to fixing or releasing this or is it faulty?
  10. My new Presara has the Toyota link which sounds great but I have registered it online and called in to activate it but nothing works. The ToyotaLink unit led is off no light AT ALL? Does anyone else have one and what does the little led do normally? Mine does nothing zip. Probably a poor pre delivery maybe a faulty unit what do you reckon?
  11. My Presara is Titan silver with the stone interior. I like it but the Silver Ash with black trim is also very nice
  12. Well the new Presara is here and its a nice drive. smooth quitet and quite zippy. more comfort than sports suspension but its capable and safe feeling even if trying too hard until the VSC get involved which is a real kiljoy.
  13. Well I have been to the dealer and seen it its really here. 12 weeks may be a reality for you too if you order a Presara as it looks like they have underestimated the demand for the top end cars. They might have been burnt on the Avalon or possibly just missed the fact that there are a lot of people who just can't see the value in the Lexus IS250, ES300 etc compared to a top end Aurion ZR6 or Presara.
  14. Woo Hoo the web tracking says being prepared for pick up at last!! Soon to be a happy little presara owner at last LONG LAST
  15. TRD have put this up on youtube and it sounds very promising
  16. nah doesnt do it for me its too fussy too many spokes. i actally like the ZR6 wheels better
  17. Thats just NOT true LPG and petrol are not equal in energy terms or power terms in an engine. LPG will produce less power or use more LPG than petrol to equal the power. Real world the fuel economy is worse and the power produced is worse. carbon grams per k is better and cost well at the moment its way cheaper but after conversion and then excise tax being phased in what bother.
  18. Copy what? RWD? OHV? V8? TRD a little workshop? All the car companies buy external expertise from "little" workshops all the time. It's just outsourcing a skill you need for one model thats not worth investing in.
  19. Can bus is something you can teach yourself but reprogramming the ecu is going to be hard without lots of software and tools that Toyota just aren't going to release. I have learnt a bit of can bus to help with an industrial ethernet wan comms project and for getting data from sensors and setting states on relays and so forth all easy enough to do. Now taking that to a car with existing non UNIX, MAC, WIN ECU controller I don't know. Honestly going to be too hard just buy the Presara probably cheaper and quicker. But for a project to keep you occupied in your shed for a year or two why not.
  20. I doubt its worthwhile its all about fuel excise avoidance which can change at the stroke of a pen. engine wise direct injection petrol engines would be more efficient and i doubt on a modern hi tech engine like the 2GR-FE that LPG would really be much of a benefit it would more likely be less efficient and tex excluded would cost about the same to run.
  21. Nice looking ZR6! Pretty damn quick delivery too. I am still logging on to Toyota to see mine but its not even in the system yet. MAY Build! So Presara's seem to be taking a bit longer
  22. Does anyone think thye are going to get the 9.9l/100km claimed on the AS test in real world city driving in city like Sydney? If your ave kmh is less than 40kmh you just can't do it. Buy a Prius if its that important.
  23. The TRD Aurion being Auto only and FWD is a very different car from all the other local offerings. I don't think they can be compared that easily. I would get a TRD but then I am not a V8 RWD fan. TRD will more likely line up the Liberty GT as this would be the closest rival. The V8 SS FPV fans are not going to go FWD but honestly there isn't any disadvantage in street driving on either platfrom in australia. Ultimately no one woould argue the AWD is better.
  24. Have been quoted a 3 month delivery on Presara, and a guy who bought a couple of weeks later a 5 month delivery (Mar to Aug )! Between the hire cars and the Middle East export markets (especially with the moonroof option) the private domestic market seems to be having a rough shake. Does anyone REALLY know why the Presara/ZR6 output is taking such a long delivery time ? It seems to me that high priority is given to leased cars. Mine is a leased car ordered in mid-Jan and delivered in four weeks time. My colleague ordered his in Feb and the build is scheduled for May. interesting i am waiting for a May build Presara too. I am not so sure i want to if there is a big hire company order causing the delay. if so I will screw them down harder F@$^ the deposit double the discount or put it into stock
