yes you can set a preference to avoid tollways if you want or choose alternative routes.

And a P-Plater can afford these cars??? No But DAD probably can. Have a look round Uni car parks these days and it's a bit sad. When I was at unit in the 70's when it was free by the way I rode a cheap ****y motorbike. these days Uni costs heaps but there seems to be no shortage of wealthy studnets probably fee paying from overseas i guess.

Not that it worries me as I am in NSW and just a bit past the whole P plate thing but isn't the Aurion ATX kerb weight 1590Kg and the power is 200kw or 125.78kw per tonne and that is OVER the 125kw per tonne? I mean these are the numbers you get from the Aurion website anyway!

These are just a dealer add on sales practice that is really from the bad old days. They should wise up and try new strategies now to claw back some profit from the new car buyer. There are clver er ways to do this and actually service the customer and sell something profitable for the dealer and useful to the customer. Paint and upholstery protection isn't one of them in my opinion.

No one is really going to do well drifting in an Aurion. I can't think of a worse car for it FWD single spinner with foot parking brake. Just hopeless. Drag racing maybe be a bit better but without a LSD the launch with TC off is tricky and with it on it's reasonably controlled and probably hard to do better with it off even with lots of practice. I just found the front wheels spin and bounce up and down something shocking while the other guys drive past you quietly. FWD is not much fun for drag racing. Certainly I am not used to it which is half the problem maybe.

I am sure you are 100% correct on this. Apart from being able to HOON around there is very little point at all. I have tried it and even on wet grass the traction control settings are sensible enough for you to get out of slippery situation. I doubt the car would be faster round corners on a track or even at the dragstrip with it off.

For street driving the Aurion is not fussy with the fuel so just buy the cheapest. Generally speaking the economy gains of better fuel are more than offset by the greater cost. Peformance wise it a marginal but measurable difference if you were going to race the car maybe worthwhile. Perhaps better for engine longevity too but at a significant cost premium. Anyone claiming PULP will improve the km per tank from 500k to 650km is just wrong. More likely 20-30km maximum in optimum conditions like freeway cruise. I have sat down to do the maths carefully but I see the price difference as being too great for this to be a worthwhile excercise even.

Agreed talk and type is real cheap. If we get a dry Wednesday I will run the Aurion at WSID in March.

Did you think this was a time slip for my Aurion? This was an example of what I thought we might like to see posted up for the 14.5 second Aurion. This is a slip I didn't throw away nothing great either for that matter but I still kept my slips. It's a real slip not photoshopped and I am not saying this was my Aurion. Nothing to hide here. You get the picture though I have been around the drag strip for quite a while longer than I care to admit here with Valiant and ford sixes actually.

Sure it's practice that will make it smoother. The trans is programmed to help prolong it's life but I do want to be able to shift down a gear at peak torque 4500rpm thats the whole point to keep it running from 4500 to 6500rpm. Done carelessly this will of course put big strains on the whole fwd trans

well, to find out, i only know who has changed their rim, cant join, they surely slower(by a bit~) and i m thinking, taking out all the passanger seats, spare tyre, subwoofer, aircon, powersterring. then MB can be fastest. Sure weight is the enemy and 100kg taken out is worth 20rwkw. There comes a point though where the car is no longer an Aurion or at least a street legal Aurion. 20 inch wheels generally slow you down as the gear the car up for the highway when you want to gear it down for the drag strip.
-
Terrific mod and so easy. Problem is I am sort of getting used to the backwards operation now and find the lag makes it almost useless and slower in spirited driving as it's so hard to time right and damned annoying when it refuses to change down until a lower spedd than you can pick up the lower gear with kickdown anyway.

[r u like tryna b a dikhed or sumfin? he ran 13.4 I RAN 14.5 do u understand now? or still na? Well yes of course. I was making fun of you. I didn't want to call you a liar on a public forum but I don't believe you ran 14.5 and if you did I would have thought you might just have kept that timeslip. An Aurion isn't going to get almost a second quicker over the quarter with a better driver. It would take a well set up shot of NOS or Supercharger to do it. Like TRD have done of course already. I am really interested to hear how well they do go down the drag strip and to see who has the fastest Aurion on the forum. Of course some sort of verification of the time would be good for credibility.

I looked at the vid thats the time of the guy in the lane next to you you lost that one!

I would like to see what an Aurion can run on the drag strip it would be interesting to see what it could do. The tests show it's quick but not thta quick as you would expect a 1630KG 200KW auto car would be. Wheels tested a ZR6 in Jan 2007 it was the fastest family auto six. 0-60 3.7 0-80 5.5 0-100 7.4 0-120 9.9 0-400m 15.3 @154kmh 80-120kmh 4.4 Wheels tested a ZR6 in NOV 2006 it was a bit slower except in mid range. 0-60 3.8 0-80 5.6 0-100 7.5 0-120 10.0 0-400m 15.5 @151kmh 80-120kmh 4.3 So if you went to the track yourself and did it one up, fuel warning light on, PULP with octane boost, stripped of all junk weight spare wheel etc. What could you get? 14.5 I doubt it lets see the slip

Yes I agree I just want the engine or supercharger to stick in my stock Presara. But ken wouldn't sell me one. : ( Thanks for you TRD supercharger enquiry. The Aurion kit we build is done specifically for TRD Australia and it would be inappropriate for us to sell it elsewhere. I suggest you contact TRD and enquire if they will stock it, as there have been some past discussions regarding "aftermarket" kits. I am not able to give any indication of the pricing … however the performance is very impressive. Regards ... Ken L. Nunn, General Manager Harrop

Just picked up my new SX6 - First Impressions
jonbays replied to PaulMT's topic in Aurion / TRD Aurion Club
Not sure on the testing Jon, I just checked out the quick facts pages at teh back of the mag and thats is what they quoted, tho dissappointing to see they gave the Zr6 it a 2/5 star. Agree with their approach to this, Ive heard from a mate that theyve quoted a Falcon GT-P acheiving 14.2 qrtr, but in reality its been clocked at 13.5 Just to note, Ive floated on the FORD forums as well, and people have witnessed Aurions making 14.5-14.7's runs, as biased as they should have been they were impressed/suprised at the Aurions potency. I used to be on the ford forums when I had a ford which I drag raced a bit at WSID so it was probably me talking up the Aurion justifying being a traitor! I haven't raced the Aurion myself as I am trying to age gracefully and not get my car confiscated but if I had I could tell you my that on my Aurion can do low 15's quite easily. I doubt I could get it below 15.3 stock one up petrol warning light on with PULP no spare no tools stripped of all accessories that are easy to take off. It is a Preasra which is a bit lardy so maybe an ATX on a good day who knows but mid 14's is hard work for 200fwkw and 1600kg. It is tempting me to have a go though. But... . I did promise the missus I would give drag racing. maybe if we could get a few like minded Aurion owners to make a night out to WSID I could be cajoled into it again. -
Just picked up my new SX6 - First Impressions

Did MOTOR really get 14.8 qtr out of a ZR6? Seems awful quick for their conservative two up test method. was it a best one up one way or what. -
I just see too many "weasel words" in the warranty. Probably paying for nothing. mainly covers the major mechanicals and all the ancillary stuff is your problem or it's fair wear and tear. Not a fan of these extended warranties it's like insurance thats all

Having problems with your inbuilt Bluetooth ?
jonbays replied to riftime's topic in Aurion / TRD Aurion Club
Had the same problem myself but its all in the system settings. I followed the procedure below and all is good now for me too. BTW I have a Nokia N73. [PROBLEM: 2) Microphone (for Bluetooth) reception not that great. I have to speak very loudly, facing the centre light console for the other party to hear me clearly. Other party often says that I "break up". That sucks, this should be a safety feature, having to lean and face a certain way when speaking is unacceptable. I'll see if there are any settings in the System Setup of the Nav system to increase microphone reception level. If, not will report at next service. My friend has a new BMW 5-series, his built-in bluetooth is just as problematic... B) FIX? You need to enter your Nav system's setup/config mode. You do this as follows: 1. Turn ignition ON (engine can be running) 2. Hold down INFO button and while holding down repeat step 3 below three times. 3. Turn parking lamps ON and back OFF. Your nav system should now be in the setup mode. To exit, hold down the DISPLAY botton for a few seconds. 4. Select MENU (top right on touch screen) 5. Select BLUETOOTH TEL CHECK (bottom on touch screen) 6. Select HANDSFREE VOICE QUALITY SET 7. Change SEND VOICE LEVEL from "0" to higher. I set mine at 5 which I think is max. 8. Press the SET button/icon on the touch screen to confirm your new setting. 9. Exit setup mode by holding down DISPLAY button on the console for a few seconds. The above change has made a big difference to my car's handsfree coms. I've done back-to-back tests to same ph. number and same person to compare the difference. With settting of "0" it was poor. Setting of "5" was reported as very good. Although an improvement, jury's still out on whether it's 100% good, I've only just done this and need to make a few more calls before I can totally cross off this problem. If it persists, I might try fiddling with the VOICE QUALITY TYPE setting as well (just below the SEND VOICE LEVEL setting), but to me that wasn't as intuitive so it might be a trial'n'error approach. I must award credit here to member "Aurion ZR6" who provided me with the reference info on how to enter the Sat Nav's system menu. Refer to thread Presara GPS Unit Mods / Options ??? for more info and external link to reference material used (complete with pictures). ] -
This is perfectly correct. With traction control switched off it becomes very obvoius that you need an LSD and without an LSD it's probably slower round the track with the tractiojn control switched off. On a wet day I tried the right hand up hill turn out of my street with it on and off and with it off I practically rolled backwards down the hill. [A powerful FWD should really have an LSD - All front wheel drives should really have an LSD. Toyota has put Traction Control in place of one and probably for more reasons, I personally feel that its a bad idea to switch it off especially that most of us are just mediocre drivers. Actually, I don't see the point of switching off Traction control anyway...unless you intend to fang it around the track. Having said that...I will be trying it out.. ]

Hi my Presara April 07 build has been good so far only 8,500k! but these two problems we share and I wouldn't mind knowing if anyone can suggest a fix? 2) Microphone (for Bluetooth) reception not that great. B) 3) Design Issue? The passenger side belt buckle bangs against the pillar plastic. I like my cars to be rattle/noise free (so I usually drive myself nuts trying to fix them). This one should have been a no-brainer for the Toyota engineers to prevent. Anyone have any clever ideas for fixing it? At the moment I drive with the passenger seat belt fastened to prevent it clunking away into the pillar post. I'm tempted to put a small piece of velcro on it and the pillar to stay put - one bang away from fastening itself fixed. :)

TRD Aurion @ Wakefield Park (PICS!)
jonbays replied to leasaunce's topic in Aurion / TRD Aurion Club
I would really like to drive a TRD Aurion round wakefield! Now that would be interesting! -
Sports mode is a misnomer. Its about as unsporting as it could be. All it is is a lock out that prevents the car from selecting a higher gear for engine braking. It will not downshift till below 3500 rpm and the lag in the change is such you can be sure the 0-100kmh which is only 1 change anyway will be slower than in drive 9 out of 10 times.
