  1. Hey Guys. TheToyota SA website is not up to date according to Toyota SA. Some sales people down here are also claiming 153Kw available from the new RSi (your Sportivo) which will be available 2nd week Jan 2005 in SA. Also ... we dont get a Sportivo ... we get the RSi without the bodykit, the kit is optional. But like some1 in the discussion said ... Sales people dont know much. I will let you know if I hear anything else.
  2. I will have to take your word for it ... all I saw was Bling and all I did was close :( Not getting fired for that
  3. PLEASE GUYS ... DO US ALL A BIG FAVOUR. Toyota SA say they have no quality probs ... but we complain all the time. Please forward letters of complaint to this guy - Customer Services Manager for SA, Rodger Griffith - 'rgriffiths@tsb.toyota.co.za' If we all complain for long enough ... something must come from it !! Nish
  4. I do believe they are exactly the same ... but I am just not sure about the ride height. I asked this in another topic, but do all of your corollas come with the same ride height or is the Sportivo slightly lower ?? I also believe Bill is sort of right about the alltitude story. If you just take our country, cars that run more inland like in Joburg are also 1/2 second quicker when they come to Cape Town, which is at sea level ... so this should make cars closer to your sea level faster ?? Sherbet ... now I'm confused And those are at the wheel figures ... so thats why I said add 20 - 22 for the loss. but I have also heard some guys say ... add 18 ... so draw your own conclusions. We are definitely not unhappy with the performance of the car. We are complaining mainly about Handling, rattles, this damn gearbox issue and Toyota's lack of customer service ! What sort of 1/4 mile times do you guys run ??
  5. Yes ... my box makes a noise as well when the clutch is out ... like a centre bearing noise. Here's Takumi's Dyno ... :D
  6. I went from 121kw @ the wheels to 126kw at the wheels, and I could definitely feel the difference. Add about 20 - 22kw for loss ... and also bear in mind I have a Cone filter on the car. But a funny thing happened on the day of the Dyno. The first run was 126Kw @ the wheels, the second run was 123kw ... I wrote off the power drop to heat cause it was a pretty hot day as well. But when you guys start talking about power differences from day to day, I start getting worried.
  7. How's that ... we export a car to Aus, only to be told that the only approved lowering kit for the car comes from Aus ... ← it's not that much lower anyway ← I hear so ... from one of your Aus branches. But just a question. Do all your Models come out at the same ride height ? Or is the Sportivo slightly lower to begin with. Cause down here, all the models come with the exact same ride height ... wheres the respect for 141kw. This is pic of my buds car ... check the height ... we could go mountain climbing at this hegith
  8. The story should sound familiar .... complain complain complain ... with absolutely no results. We get the same story you here ... "our tech team will be looking into it ... blah blah blah" I truely regret buying this car due to the bad customer service I am getting from Toyota. Your "Jenny" sounds exacly the same as our "Rodger Griffith" ... the SA customer service manager. Feel free to forward all your e-mail to him as well :D 'rgriffiths@tsb.toyota.co.za' But to be honest we (myself and a friend of mine) have not made a big stink about the gearbox issue ... we seriously thought it was the way you needed to change gears. But the more owners I meet, and now after reading your forum we plan to make a big stink about it. We have mainly been complaining about rattles, handling, fitting apporved aftermarket accesories, etc. We didnt even get this gearbox cable recall ... but I hear if you complain about a rattle they replace it.
  9. Hi ... I am also from South Africa, where they make the car we are all complaining about. I have a friend who used to work for the Toyota SA factory, and trust me, the car is a assembled from Start to Finish in that factory. This includes the "wonderful" gearbox. Yes ... I also crunch into 2nd all the time ... I also thought it was the way I was changing. One thing though ... you guys think your Toyota dealerships are full of nonsense, we cannot even fit any aftermarket parts without voiding the warranty .... I have been trying to get my car lowered since day one of ownership ... the only option they have given me is to buy (import) the Sportivo kit which I think your cars come out with as standard and have it installed by Toyota SA. Only problem is, the dealers are so ignorrant, because not all of them know about the approved kit, only a couple of them are willing to fit the kit .... hows that for customer service How's that ... we export a car to Aus, only to be told that the only approved lowering kit for the car comes from Aus ...
