  1. This is my biggest problem as well ... I have been contemplating for a couple of months now on this ... do I do the install with / without the recline feature
  2. Guy :D Whats up with this post in wheels and tires ??
  3. Welcome !! When I saw you car it reminded me so of my Twincam ... she was also a bit of a babe Damn I miss that car !!
  4. I dont think the technique caused it ... rather the lack of grip and then all of a sudden loads of grip. I personally have been doing this for about 6 months at least two to three times a week ... and it just chirps smoothly into 2nd with life available immediately. B) And in the wet .... OMG in the wet :D ... theres just no traction !! But I am sure its buggering the car up somehow ... I am expecting heave clutch and flywheel wear and tear ...but its so worth it :D
  5. without those fixes cant u land in lift from 1st to 2nd? i cant seem to do it... ← U can land in lift ... I dont have the fixes and I seem to have found a way to get it into 2nd without grinding and it lands in lift. What you have to do is 1st off change straight down, and I mean straight down ... and dont snap it, pause for that split second and then push it into 2nd. So that's from first into neutral ... pause (I'm talking 0.something of a second) and then into 2nd. Then the main thing ... just b4 you take the clutch out ... give it a bit of gas and it should chirp hard and you should be in lift :D I just wouldnt advise this all the time cause I am sure that bit of gas prior to taking the clutch out is gona do some damage over time. but man its so sweet when it chirps hard into 2nd B)
  6. ← Funny how you guyz got the reverse beep and we dont We have the lights on beep ... now that I think about it ... I am glad we dont have a reverse beep :D
  7. Definitely confirmed guys. New exhaust; air box and ECU ... no extra power, Lift still kicks in at 6000RPM (not 4000RPM) ... so essentially ... an old one should whip a new one considering how sluggish they are without mileage on them :D
  8. :o Guys be very carefull ... I read about something like this in a local forum in SA. A guy with an intake went through a heavy puddle and his engine had to be redone from sucking water into the intake. http://www.tolken.co.za/twincamforum/viewtopic.php?t=5881 Wonder if I should take mine off
  9. You took the words right out of my mouth :D Toy SA say that any aftermarket part will void the warrenty on that particular section of the car. I have heard some say that they will accept TRD parts though as these are approved Toy parts. I on the other hand will be removing my CAI when I service ... B)
  10. The new model in South Africa is getting a little trip computer in the sound system, average fuel consumption, average speed, etc. Otherwise it doesn't look much different to the old one, just the new front end. To me, the old Sportivo had more differentiation over the "lesser" Corolla models, but that's just my opinion. :) ← Damn cars where stuck in "Inspection" all weekend !! <_< Will only be released this morning ... but it looks like it will be sort of the same when compared with the 180RX model. Except for the power of course. Some sales person actually told me the VVTL would actually kick in at 4000 RPM but seeing is believing, cause most delears and the article in our local magazine dont say anything about this. We in SA ... actually got that trip computer as standard ... its actually more irritating than anything else, cause if you use and its on all the time, you find yourself trying to keep the fuel consumption down. I used it for the 1st couple of weeks, it started to drive me bats ... so now I only check it out once in a while. :D
  11. Its finally here :D . I have spoken to a Toy Rep and confirmed by a small article in the "Car Magazine". The new RSi (Sportivo) has the same power output as the Old ones. Except that it has a upgraded Airbox, ECU, Intake and Exhaust which apparently makes the power and torque band a little bit smother and the car thus becomes more "Drive-able." My bud has ordered one, which will apparently be in my local showroom this afternoon. Will definitely be going to check it out. Although I doubt they will allow me to take it for a "Spin" So it seems it will have the upgrades we have ... with the exception of the exhaust and intake ?? Will keep you guys informed ... Nish

From the album: Nish's RunX RSi

The one is STD before the upgrade and the other is with CAI after the upgrade.
  14. Actually ... now that I took a good look at the TRD intake ... my plastic pipe runs exactly the same way B) ... just that my pipe cost R100 (which is about 21 Aus Dollars). We normally get some good quality CAI for about R500 ($100) but they are not available here yet ... but I sure they will be soon :D
  15. Box the pod filter not the cai... I want to fit a cai to the factory box to stay legal using the trd panel filter in the factory box.. ← I have done a similar mod. I am using the factory box ... then I had a plastic pipe made that goes from the Air box down the side of the battery and down into the bumper ... there was no need to move the batterry. Just a bit of a struggle to get it in. But it does work. Will take some pics and post them when I have a chance. Nish
  16. U guyz are getting some insane km's off a tank. :o If I am lucky I get 525 km and under normal town driving I get 475 - 500 k's. But my version of normal driving is hitting Lift every day :D
  17. Talking about Launching hard. When I launch hard (5000 - 6000) the car tends to refuse to go into 2nd (No - I do not wanna discuss my Gearbox woes ) Well OK ... sometimes it does go in ... and when it does ... B) I was just wondering at what rev you were launching at ??
  18. Its a pity I dont have more pics here. In my Civic and Conquest I mounted the tweeters in the air vents. All I did was remove the Vent cover and stuff the vent with carpet. The tweeter fitted in nicely and sounded sweet and I just covered it up with a cut up piece of grille from an old speaker. The fact that is was almost completely stealth was a bonus. :D The last thing U want is tweeters on the dash as a dead give away for thieve's to know U have an expensive sound system in.
  19. That Horrid sound would'nt happen to be a "swooshing" sound when you go over speed bumps ?? Mine does this ...also sometimes more than other times. But the two dealers I took it to said that it was normal. Anyway's .... I've since fitted a set of Eibach's and cant claim for anything on the shocks anymore ... but who cares ... the ride is something else :D
  20. That's a little dodgy isn't it??? :P ← noooooooooooooo :P :D ← Hi People. I have the following sitting in my cupboard. 5 Channel US Amp 12" Kove Audio Dual 6Ohm Sub 6 1/4 Kove Splits I was actually supposed to start with the install in December, but so far I have just sort of visuallised what it will look like. Will keep you guys posted when I finally get around to starting it. Here's a pic of the install I did in my Civic.
  21. Stunning in Black dude !! Love it !! Just on another topic, you know of a good site I can buy some TTE items from ... specifically interested in the TTE rear wing that you have. Thanks Nish
  22. Whoops ... my bad ... forgot to delete the pics !!
  23. Very Very Nice ... I'm so jealous :D I was supposed to start on my install as well over the holdiays ... but have not got around to it yet !! I wont be goind all out like you have though ... I want to keep it down in terms of wheight. But ... a stunning install ... still able to use the spare ?? Or is that dumb question :D
