  1. Another thing I was told but I think it was just a scare tactic from the exhaust fitter is that sometimes with unboxed pods you get a whistle sound in your exhaust. I don't know how exactly since it's air going into your cylinders and then fumed out through your exhaust manifold/extractors. I think he just wanted more money to set it up for me. For future reference though, what CAN cause a whistle sound in your exhaust is if they try to cheap you and use a one braided side piece on the tail of your extractors(can't remember the name of the part) instead of a piece that's braided inside and out. Go on.. make more noise :P
  2. Do you mean the service manual with all the mechanical details on fixing the paseo? or the actual owner's manual? Not that it matters I got both. As for the globe in the trunk, from memory it's just a W5W wedge bulb. They're not very bright though, if you want really simple looks or more light you can screw in or zippy tie a neon or 12v tube light into your boot and solder it onto the boot light contacts.
  3. starlet turbos beating wrxs?!... maybe an rx :P
  4. Heh I forgot to tell you about the induction noise you get, just know that unboxed pods are illegal but what the hell, I work for the police and my car is way out of spec :)
  5. yep paseo are drums on the rear standard. Friend has gt4 rear discs if that helps
  6. about time I came back to the Aus toyota forum. Paseos are a fun car to do stuff to and they're way more original when you get the finished product. Everyone has some kind of nissan or wrx these days.. which sucks
  7. well the biggest you can fit on without having to get your guards rolled or flared is 16" rims... but 17's look nicer and if you're planning on getting a kit, guard flaring looks good anyway :) As for brakes... I have no idea
  8. heh here... I didn't realise there was an Oz section of the toyota forums and I've been posting in the UK's
  9. Anyone wanting the information book on paseo/tercel feel free to contact me... I have the whole book in Adobe format
  10. I'd do the 4A-GZE or 4A-GE 20v. the little 1.3L turbo is fun and easy but if you're putting money into getting an engine clearly for power gain you may as well get the supercharged corolla engine and fabricate some mounts
  11. My suggestion is if you're going to get something else don't worry about it... but then if you insist I can tell you what you can do.. cheap stuff first exhaust and headers - you can have just the exhaust if you want but the headers really compliment it... probably about $510 all up.. go for 2" if you still want some torque or 2.25" for performance. I wouldn't worry about a hi-flo cat for the paseo cos it's not that restrictive anyway. pod filter/cold air - k&n filter(or your brand choice) usually pick up for about $80.. easy to put in, 2 ways you can go about cold air... you can do it the less efficient way and just build some heat shielding around the filter or you can set up the filter to get air from the front and under the car. Feel free to ask me about that as it's a bit lengthy Engine internals - you can upgrade your pistons, rods, etc. Raise the compression ratio on your engine but don't go too hardcore with that. then there's everything else like your ignition, chip, etc etc I got the cold air, headers and 2.25" exhaust.. feel like I wasted my money now cos I'm going to throw a 3s-gte in.. 2L turbo celica engine :D
