  1. Well that's right, that's why Toyota are there. To help out with problems. I ring them and get quotes on certain things, they usually always give you good answer to any concerns or questions. I'd say this site is hardly much for technical questions. It's more to brag and discuss.

  2. Try your insurance people. If it's bad enough to be declared unsafe you may get them to replace it. Most will cover one windscreen a year with no excess.

I'm on Third Party though, which basically does nothing for damage to you car ever. The scratches were there when I got the car. I don't think they'd be unsafe, but they are noticeable. For a new windscreen I'd be willing to pay up to $500, but I don't know how much Toyota would charge. I don't care where I got it from, so long as it's the same as the one already in there.

  3. I really wouldn't worry about it, it would be such a costly thing to do and it's illegal, no one would bother doing it.

Speaking of wear on break pedals, my car's break pedal is making a clicking noise when I take my foot off it. Toyota can fix it?

  4. I don't really know, but I'd say it's much harder to tamper with the electronic one's. I'm not sure if they have any kind of 'anti-tamper' system, or if it's just a case of them being too hard to tamper with. Why do you ask? Are you worried about yours? How many km's?

  5. Yeah, I want something that will match. I'll probably still try and find the factory one, but so far I have found nothing. I don't really like the look of those one's with all the graphics, they don't look very good in older cars. But hey, that's my opinion!

  6. Hmm, sounds like Beaurepairs didn't do a very good alignment on it. I think they did a fairly quick job. The only reason I got it done there was because I got the tyres there. Maybe I'll get a proper one done by Toyota. I just didn't think wheel alignments had anything to do with the steering wheel. Thanks for the info!

  7. My steering wheel is slightly slanted when traveling in a straight line. If you hold it level, the car slightly veers to the left, so you have to hold it on an angle. I just rang Toyota about it and they said that they generally fix that with a wheel alignment. The thing is, I recently got new tires and they (not Toyota) did an alignment on it but it didn't fix the problem. Any ideas?

My friend had the same problem with his crappy 98 Barina.

  8. Thanks for that Pete and t0y0ta, I'll try trying. I should shop round for a new head unit too. I want something that has a black panel with a green-backlight. Something that matches the interior.

  9. I want to replace my head unit because it's broken (is now anyway). But I'm not sure how to take it out. I thought about D.I.Y. for taking the old one out, and then I'll get a new one. If I can't do it easy, I won't. I've attached a pic of what it looks like, I've ripped off the panel that's behind the detachable face, but not sure where to go from there.

  10. You could buy a 1998 Camry like mine. One that has around 100,000 kms. They're good cars, and are hardly ever lemons. You could find one for about $8,900. How much were you wanting to pay? If you bought one for that price and had a major service done on it by Toyota, it should be just fine!
