  1. my dealer said that I should not use fully synthetic oil on my stivo 05 as they say it is not that thick and the engine tends to wear much faster compared to semi-syn. so i ened up using the semi-syn oil the dealer supplied. they said that i should use the fully syn oil only when my car has done >20000 km. any comment on this or it's just the bullsh!t?

  7. ok, i've got the intruction for K&N typhoon intake system here. not exactly like simota but the first few steps should be similar. http://www.kandn.com/instructions/69-8601.pdf hope this helps
  8. or has anybody dyno thier cars with the exhausts from other companies? e.g. kakimoto (only $800) - i was told once that they have one for the stivo. i was trying to mail the company in japan directly but could not find the e-mail address on thier official web site. basically what other options do we have here? and what's the gain for each option? that's what i'm interested.

  11. i just bought my AEM for $392, don't know if i need to pay the import tax - still less expensive than other brands (except simota). bruce from trdsales qouted me $490 including shipping blitz from autobarn and ignition-x too costly $500-700 once i acquire and fit this part, i will dyno it with different filters (luckily my freind knows a guy at autobarn) so he might be able to supply me with different pod filters - simota, k&n, kks and my stock AEM. see who makes a real difference will keep u guys up to date
  12. sh!t, that's the whole page, man. i don't have patience to do that.... haa...ha..ha..
  13. I plan to go to the UK in 2 months from now and before I go there, I look around for the sportivo's parts. I've come accorss this small utensil. http://www.kamann-autosport.com/Main%20Frame.htm don't know if the link is broken. anyway, anyway, this electonic supercharge claims that it pulls out 10-15 bph from normal engine. I reckon we could fit this unit immediately after the pod filter. how it works? i think i know but not sure coz i can't read german. does it really work?? - i don't know either. can anybody knowing german give us a hand here? it's not very pricey so i thik it's worth trying. but before i jump into anything, i'd like to get the expert's comment on the unit and the restriction of the air flow issue. i think that if u, guys, think this thing work - i will get the simota tube - cut it to fit the kahmann unit - if might give more punch than normal CAI but certainly it affects the roaring sound. any comment'll be greatly appreciated. :D tony
  14. yeah....too bad, no v2 for our cars more about AEM CAI - i was told that $389 to my door step and if you want the ITG filter (regarded as the best filter by many experts) on your kit, add another $160 - you end up paying roughly $550. this is certainly less than the Blitz Sonic Air Intake - Ignition X is selling at $770 excluding shipping. Go AEM - once I dyno my car, I will post the result (comapred to stock).
  15. I am researching on CAI for my stivo and am convinced that AEM is probably the best CAI for our rollas -especially Sportivo. Injen is more expensive than AEM but performance wise, Injen is a bit behind AEM. I am sorry if I repeat this topic again but I think it's useful for people who have less technical/mechanical knowledge about cars - like me http://www.newcelica.org/other/dyno/page.php?sort=celicagts check out this link. you can see that AEM CAI usually produces better performance than Injen. other brands PHR CAI http://www.newcelica.org/other/dyno/larryd...erty/index2.htm TPR CAI - gives better performance than AEM http://www.newcelica.org/other/dyno/tpr/All-TPR.jpg next one is K&N http://www.kandn.com/dynocharts/69-8601.jpg 12.2hp gain - but dyno chart comes from K&N company - reliable??? don't know next one is TRD - dyno test from Craig - see thew link, this gives about 5 kw@w. http://www.cardomain.com/id/danthuyer no info regarding Blitz air intake floating o nthe net - i read the british forum - they comment that Blitz sits in the engine bay so it sucks only the hot air - doesn't work and means not worth paying for. now the choice is up to you. pick the color and the brand you want. anybody has any dyno sheet on the simota.. interested to know how it's compared to other brands may the force be with you tony
  16. ok, guys, anybody going to thailand this august or september might want to visit this mod shop. Arto & TRD Thailand, Srinakarin Road, Bangkok telephone number 0-2321-3113 or 0-2321-9385-6 get the locals to call the shop before you go because i could not find the exact address. all i could gather from the website is that this place is an official TRD dealer in Thailand and is close to a very big shopping complex called "Seacon Square". hope this help.
  17. i think the brown snakes are "oil collecting host" - direct translation - don't know what it means either, although i could read thai
  18. whew..... nice to hear that it's not gonna happen to us. anyway, can u provide the link where i can get more info on this matter please? thanks
  19. current owners and future of stivos, please read. we might lose our magic "LIFT" one day!!!!! this is due to the broekn the lift bolts. have we been informed about this? anybody exprieced it yet? if so, what did the dealer say when you approach them? http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31638 any comment???? i'm a new owner so this is a major concern. the following is just the cut and paste from the uk forum. quote: Hi Guys, Are you guys aware of the lift bolt issue with the 2zz engine? The reason I say is that I've been briefly looking around and seeing that noone has really mentioned it. Basically the engine has a design fault, in that two 26p bolts hold the cams in position, and these bolts are known to wear down and snap. Although you probably won't notice for a while, eventually the cams will be able to move and you'll lose 'Lift'. Many celica owners are having this problem, and its well documented in the States. The trouble is as always, is that Toyota won't recognise the issue (money :censor: ) surprise, surprise, and you probably won't know any different until your out of warranty. Thought you guys with the CTS should know.
  20. oh..crap... not good man. has anybody got busted by the cop and ended up in the same situation like this? i'm quite terrieifd as well as this is the FIRST time that i am modifying my car. always driving a stock car for all my life. if anybody could provide me on what i need to do with the transport dept, it'd be greatly appreciated. :o thanks.
  21. arr..or this is someone else? i am confused
  22. do we have any guy here who have been using this system on thier cars? i'd love to hear some verdict from the owner of this device. i don't think it'd harm our cars but because it's quite pricey from small tools, i need to justify paying for them. is peekay still on the forum? your comment'll be appreciated. cheers
