  1. Woh, thats a pretty good price. Manual Trans? Did u get the hail fix? No not yet. It is very hard to notice because of the very light colour (Shimmer). I plan to put a sun-roof soon anyway so it should fix about 80% of the damage. The damage was very minor, so I probably will not get it fixed unless I have to. Yes it is a stick shift. Here are some pics!!! (sorry, about the angles, was only testing the camera at that time) Its still a very nice score at that price. Yeah by chance we went to the right place at the right time!. Would never have bought one if it was normal price. I believe the extra costs does not justify enough the extras on the ZRs.

  3. Sportivos have a different engine. You'll notice that it will have VVTi-L as opposed to VVT-i. Basically the sportivos have the Celica engine I think. 'L' stands for lift, which is a technology in Honda's language called VTEC. Once you reach a certain rev, the engine will automatically enable the high profile CAMS which boosts the power output. More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VTEC Basically: Ascent (all variation), Conquest, Levin - same normal engine (I think 98 KW - reduced to comply with emission regulations) - full time variable valve timing NO Lift Sportivo - Celica Engine - full time Variable valve timing with part-time Lift The 2007 Corollas are quite nice. I own one myself (Levin ZR 6sp) and they are much better to drive compared to the earlier models. Arguably the better looking as well. Price wise, it is probably better to invest a little bit more for the 07 corollas. Test drive em, see how you go. Manny
  4. Mine was a slightly hail damaged one which was brand new (had 60km on the ODO). It was on offer for $25,000. The usual brand new price was about $31,990. We offered 24k (drive away) flat and Lander Toyota accepted. They had quite a few brand new cars with slight hail damage from the recent hail storm on offer that weekend, all probably got sold. So yes, we did get a considerable amount of discount. If I had a choice, I would have gotten a base model or perhaps a conquest if there was no rare hail damage offer like the one we had. The Levin models are quite expensive, but the extra features are quite nice to have.
  5. G'day Everyone Got a Corolla Levin ZR 07 Hatch 6sp manual about two months ago, and I have to say that this corolla has the best feel. From the Interior Materials to the Mechanical aspect of the car, you can instantly tell Toyota's superb craftsmanship given its product offerings to its target market ($20,000 to $30,000) Improvements from previous Generation (05) that I have noticed: - Gearbox mechanics is top notch relative to other cars within its class - better feel for the clutch (apparently more durable as well) - more behaved road handling - less road noise - INTERIOR is awesome (especially the Optitron thingy) - bigger interior - better mileage (dual vvt-i) about 5 to 10% better efficiency from my fuel calculations - better looking (in my opinion) - all the extras of the LEVIN ZRs!:P - Cheap to fix thus cheap to insure - Comfy sports seats Things I don't like about the Levin: - ride height is quite high - no significant product variation compared to other models (i.e. same engine, suspensions etc. mechanical aspect all the same) - Reverse Gear is sometimes hard to engage Overall, the car feels great. I believe the base model provides the best value. It is more spacious, has better mileage, better handling, less road noise and a big plus is the service advantage ($120 fixed for every service up to 60,000 kms or first 6 services). With this car, you can't go wrong. Manny
  6. Car: Rolla Levin ZR 07 6sp Manual (about 4000km on the ODO) Caltex 98 Vortex (or whatever it is) Average Fuel Consumption p/100 km price of fuel $1.4900 price paid $55.00 litres 36.91275168 kilometres trav. 550 average p/100km 6.711409396 50/50 on hwy and high density roads. Low to Medium rpm range usage, revmatching downshifts when coasting (when necessary), 70% of the time AIRCON is on.
  7. G'day All Got a Levin ZR Hatch 07 and also crunches. What I have found is that I need to wait about 3 seconds (neutral and foot off clutch) until I pop it into reverse. If I do it too quickly (because sometimes I forget), it will usually crunch which sounds awful on a brand new car! I asked Lander Toyota at Blacktown and they said (and I quote) 'it probably just needs wearing in, wait till the 10000K service and see how you go'. Looks like us 07 Rolla owners (stick shifts) will have to be very very careful with our reverse gears. CRUNCHING is very damaging from what I have heard. APART from that, THE CAR IS FANTASTIC! Peace out all. Manny
  8. Test drive both cars and see how you go. We have three cars, Ford Fiesta, Ford Focus and my Toyota Rolla Levin ZR 6 sp manual. I drive the Fords occasionally and what I have noticed is that the overall road noise is far more severe. However, the Fords do feel more responsive and lively whereas the toyota feels more refined and tamed, but still relatively fun to drive. I also have freinds that drive Mazdas and the road noise is considerably more compared to the new Toyota (especially the Mazda 3). From a cost perspective, the Mazda 2 will provide better bang per buck if you do not always drive a full load of passengers. It is sporty, has more stability features in terms of road handling with braking and steering (stability control especially) and throttle modulation (traction control). And it looks very sporty! Rollas have been known to be a small family car due to its relatively bigger interior. If you drive with the family quite often then the rolla is a better choice. Which grade of the rolla line-up will be entirely up to you. I believe the 'ascent' provides the best value. G Luck.
