  1. after talking with the guy i'm buying the fmic/intake from last night... i'm slightly horny... :P

he reckons he has tuned quite a few cars with the same mods as mine and they are getting between 330-350kw... :D :D :D

he also said to take the car to him in sydney and he'll tune it and throw in a e85 tune for free... long way to take a car for a tune though.. :(

  2. bought an intercooler/intake kit today...

    500x400x3.5 core size

    2.5inch hot piping

    3inch cold piping

    4inch Intake System

    Alloy Airbox

    Factory Battery re-location

a bit pricey, but apparently its a good kit.

this is what it looks like:

gotta get it installed along with the injectors/exhaust and then tuned...

i read that it probably wont go over 300kw without valve springs and modifying the turbo (different actuator and porting the wastegate flap or something like that)...

if i hit 300kw at the wheels, i'll be stoked...

    anything under 280kw and i'll be ****** off... :D

  3. i did that on my TRD Aurion.

dropped the centre resonator and installed a cannon style varex in its place.

a lot of people say they are sh!t, but it worked for me and created the desired effect. (loudish on open and quiet on close)

steven has the exhaust on his car now and doesnt have the same result, not sure why though.

in summary, yes, it can be done. just buy a normal varex muffler and get the exhaust shop to fit it for you.

  4. i dont understand why people would still choose manual over a DSG. i wonder if its because they havent really driven one or if they have driven a dsg equiped car, maybe they havent driven it for long/hard enough...

"gives a better driving experience" is a reason why a lot of people claim they like manual more.

    why?

because it gives you the ability to miss a gear change? or fuq a clutch? or put the clutch in to 'save fuel'?

    i really dont get it.

for me, i want a gear change that is quick and hassle free. a quick and hassle free gear change will always give me a 'better driving experience'... :)

  5. you heard him first and then waited 30mins for him to appear around the corner? :P

You can't talk, Loud Wet Fart McGee!

the first time i saw the sherpa, i turned around and looked to where i thought the car would be due to the duration of noise and how fast something that loud would normally be moving... then i had to pan about 20m down the road...

    so much win! :D

    loud wet fart ftw!!

  6. it was bush firing mate... more than 5mins on in the workshop and everyone had to evacuate cause you couldnt breath... completely fuqed up..

i was still building boost and still able to do wheelies.. :P

i dont know much about this kinda thing though... just what i've experienced first hand... so your problem may be COMPLETELY unrelated...

  7. i had the same problem on my silvia...

mine had multiple issues at the time though...

    - turbo seals were fuqed (also had a lot of front/back shaft movement)

    - injector harness had melted, so when it was firing one cyl it was firing three cyl at the same time. so i had major fuel wastage..

    - ecu was fuqed.

i'd start with the turbo and look for any obvious signs of failure (shaft movement, etc)...

  8. got a price for some Federal 595s for the new rims... $180ea... fuqn rippa!! :D

in other news, i replaced the middle muffler with just straight pipe today... best $50 i've ever spent!!

    seriously sounds soooo tough now!

the burble/popping on over run is making me change down gears just for fun now...

fuel economy has gone through the roof now though... :( haha

and now the 'wet fart' noise on gear changes has become a 'thunderous-scare-young-children-and-old-people wet fart' noise... :P so much win!! :D

  9. well, i've bought the first ones... fingers crossed they fit...

i measured, and its gonna be REAL close to the guards... may have to roll them.. :(

either way. the site reckons 2-5day delivery from the states... :D
