  1. As a female driver who does most of her driving within 5km radius from home, 16-17 is normal for me If I dont take it easy If I am on my best behaviour that drops to 12-14 and yes, hubby always gets better economy than me even though he seems to drive the car alot harder than I do??? Maybe its because he just has a better understanding of the mechanical side of the car and knows "how" to drive it properly IYKWIM (Advantage of a misspent youth) No need to share all your lady driver jokes guys, I can imagine what you are all going to say
  2. I am with you on the stereo but not game yet to tamper with the car to put a new one in. I think the bigger issue is the speakers. I know there are none (or mine are not working) in the rear cargo area. Cant seem to find in the book how many speakers are in the KX-R but it needs more!!!!!. Congrats to all new Kluger owners :D
  3. We have a KX-R AWD and LOVE IT :D The AWD was only just and I mean just within our budget but hubby is not a fan of FWD and thought it would handle better etc. We dont go off road at all but I guess its just something you either like or you dont??? On the other hand all the little extras on the KX-S would be nice but our car has more than enough features to keep us happy. Maybe take the two models for a drive and see which you like best. Good luck, I am sure you will be happy with either model as they really are a fantastic car
  4. Gee I had no idea that where you live can make such a difference on your insurance :o
  5. I drive a KX-R am Rating 1 and pay $638 . The car is insured through Shannons and includes 1 free windscreen per year. We do get a discount as we have 3 cars insured with them (10% from memory). I shopped around but no one could come close!. Budget Direct were the 2nd best price but that was closer to $730. I believe I can only go with Shannons as we have an old Chevrolet insured through them (they specialise in classic/custom car Insurance) though that rule could have changed. I am also a lady driver though not sure if that works in my favour or not :P .
  6. We have a KX-R and just love it. More than enough features to keep us happy. To be honest if we could afford a KX-S we would have probably got one. The KX-R was only JUST within our budget. We were put off a little by the black leather interior as we looked at one on warm day and found the seats almost too hot to sit on. Not sure how others find them. Its easy enough to buy a KX-R and add a few extras that you like. On the other hand life is too short so if you can afford a KX-S why not go for it?????? You will love either model.
  7. Checked out the new Eastlink Tollway here in Melbourne today. With 95% freeway driving using cruise control average fuel usage was 8.4lt :D This is the first decent run I have done in the car, all my driving is stop start traffic. Cant believe we got that type of economy out of a 7 seater AWD!. Amazing. For the record I am just running reg. unleaded (91?).
  8. that is where it sounds like it is comming from, but it seems maybe it is near the wipers?? i have no idea Check out the post on page 2. (sorry dont know how to add a link :o ) its titled Assumed Dash Flexing Rattles. Hopefully this helps
  9. I recall on a post a few months ago someone provided the UV rating etc on each window in the Kluger. For the life of me I cant find that post. Does anyone else remember it or am I going completely nuts ? I think it mentioned that all windows had some level of UV block out and heat reduction.
  10. We refer to it as the "beam me up Scotty" light . :P
  11. Have had my car about 1 month now. Amazing car. Just love driving it. Only fault so far is that in wet weather when I open the doors, water drips onto the seats. Not a big issue but just a little annoying. It seems to happen even if its not raining at the time but there is water sitting on the car. Living in Melbourne, its only going to be a problem now and then :P Otherwise more than happy with the car. Worth every cent!.
  12. I have a KX-R AWD 7 Seater. Average 12-14lt per 100km though 90% of my driving is 5 minute trips in suburbia. Did a 90km round trip on weekend and it averaged 10.5 for that drive. Have had it down to 9.2lt on freeway.
  13. :D :D SAGE GREEN :D :D I know not on everyones list but we love it. The car looks a completely different colour depending on the time of day. Anything from green - dark grey - almost a blue green. My 2nd choice would have been Merlot red but I was worried about fading as my car does not get the garage, thats saved for hubbys 53 Chev :-( He wanted White but having just driven a white car for 8 years I was ready for a change. The black looks amazing but we already own 2 black cars so we knew what we were in for!. Big issue here in Melbourne where washing your car involves a trip to your local carwash or installing a water tank!.
  14. I have had the same thought. I personally think the stereo is not that good, not sure if its the head unit or speakers but my old cd player in my last car was 10 times better. Have wondered about adding one with bluetooth but not so keen on messing with the car just yet!. Will be interested to see what you find out. Good Luck
  15. I believe the centre seat is the safest place in all cars for child restraints. I am still not 100% convinced that a removable seat (ie middle seat in Kluger) is as safe as a normal seat. We have 3 children all in anchored child restraints so we have no choice but to use all 3 positions. I am not sure that the centre seat would be able to accomodate a baby seat in the reverse position due to the straps sliding down between it and the out seats . I guess it depends on how your child restraint is designed. Good Luck
  16. Hi Iwantone The fuel consumption gauge is graduated in Litres/ 100 Kilometres. Because when you are idling, you are not moving, therefore your Kilometer being travelled is zero. Any number divided by 0, the result is infinity. The highest consulmption shown on the gauge is 30 litres /100 kilometer therefore as the actual is infinity it just registers the highest reading while you are not moving. Thanks for that, I knew there would be a logical answer :P
  17. Interesting about tyre pressure. Will let hubby know (that is his department!). I have one question, do you know why the graph showing fuel usage sits at 30lt when the car is running but not moving? (ie at traffic lights etc). The other day I was in my sisters driveway chatting (as us ladies like to do) and the fuel usage kept rising. In 5 minutes it went up nearly 1 ltr?. Does the car really use that much fuel at idle?. Just wondering. Also does "running in a vehicle" properly make much difference to fuel consumption?. Our car was an ex demo as it was the only way we could afford the AWD model and I often wonder how much damage that has done to the engine? . I am sure those driving the car did not take it easy. It only has 3500km on it and is 12 months old. Thanks :D
  18. Had my KX-R AWD for just over 1 week now. I really love driving this car. Its a HUGE step up for me (last car was a 94 Commodore wagon with over 250000km on the clock!). My economy is sitting around 11-13lt per 100km though majority of my driving is 5 minute trips around suburbia so more than happy with that. Had it down to 9.2 on the freeway which is amazing. There is only one thing that could make me love driving this thing more.... a sound proof barrier between me and the 3 kids aged 6 and under in the back seat!. Enjoy
  19. Finally picked up the car last week. Hubby and I just LOVE IT!!!! The 3 kids seats fit in better than expected and its a dream to drive. Still a couple of issues that the dealer needs to sort. Totally disappointed with them and would never go back but in the end I got the car I wanted in our price range. Still getting use to seeing how much fuel I use when I put my foot down. I am now driving like a Nanna (remember I had a commodore so I use to drive it like it was stolen!) Not looking forward to washing it, its HUGE.
  20. Hey! Easy Taka! :) May I say welcome to the Sage Green club - its a very distinguished and elite club. You did well to get both the 7 seats and AWD for that price I think. And yeah, if you're planning to keep it for a while, the resale wont be an issue. Ours is a 2007 build too. Green is a colour you either love or hate ;) and it really would have been the colour I picked if I had a choice. I love the fact that its not the most selected colour. Have driven a white commodore wagon for 8 years and it seems so does a large majority of the population. There are 3 cars the same in my street alone! looking forward to getting something a little "different". Thanks for the welcome :P
  21. Need to change my name now put a deposit on a KX-R ex demo 7 seater AWD Sage Green with 3000km drive away $40,000 with 13 months reg. Downside is that the car is nearly 12mths old but as we plan to keep it for 10 years or so this really does not make much difference in the long run. Upside is that we got an AWD, something we didnt think we would get in our price range. Its also in my fave colour. Car looks brand new. Just hope we got a good deal now, and that its a good car. Who would have thought spending $40,000 would be so hard!
  22. OK now I'm confused, whilst crunching numbers at a dealer last week he showed us a figure on the computer of over $1200 for a towbar ????. Would love one but not at that price. Made no attempt to "sell" it to us and said it was very expensive. Why so much more than others are quoted.?
  23. We picked up a 7 seater KX-R, 2WD demo, with front and rear parking sensors, mats, towbar, headlight protectors, 4 months rego and the next service free for $38,500. Would love to find a deal like that. Have been thinking about parking sensors, might be handy with a big car. Hubby refuses to buy a car if they dont throw in some mats!!!!! Have made a few calls looking for a demo model to bring price down but no luck so far.
  24. Visited our local dealer yesterday. We can fit 3 child restraints in the back . They all sit quite nicely. Took our first drive in a Kluger as well and Hubby and I have now decided will for sure Kluger over Territory. Nice to have finally made a decision. They offered us a KX-R, 2WD, 7 Seater in Graphite for 40K on the road. This includes the trade in of my poor old VR Commodore with 258,000 on the clock. Good deal?. Its only the base model but compared to what I drive now, pure luxury :D Will have a look around before saying yes, check out our options. Thanks
