  1. I've got a 23 year old Commodore, still running fine on it's original engine and everything else except for shocks and exhaust for that matter... I can change the oil and filter on it without even raising the car because everything is so accessable.

I think what Azza is pointing too is modern engines are becoming a little too complex for their own good.

Thats becuase they dont want you to service your car. Its a guaranteed way for the company of making money on a vehicle long after its sale, by offering warranty, which can only be maintained by regular dealership services. Still, Toyota is pretty good. If you compare our current engine bay to a VW Golf, for example, its fairly accessible, but compared to an old Commo :D well, you have enough room in there for another engine, those days are well and truly gone.

  2. you are right, I was reading the wrong dates... even more boring now.

the France - Sth Korea rematch is the only one of any interest there for me.

its not that its boring, its just that its not as interesting as other matches :P

    Brazil to beat Croatia

    France to beat Switzerland

    Korea to beat Toga

Lets see all the top seeded teams in the round of 16. Now thats a World Cup baby.

Nah, that would mean the Aussies would not make the last 16. As long as they make it i'l be over the moon. A draw against Brasil and a win against Croatia. If we make it, we face either the Italians or the Czech Republic. But thats lookingtoo far ahead, lets just get through the first round :)

HOW GOOD IS THIS!! THE REAL FOOTBAL FINALLY AWAKENS IN THIS COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!! GO THE AUSSIES!!!!

  3. Sorry to hear that mate, but unfortunately these scenarios happend way too often, and it due to the decision making process of the individual. He/She would have panicked and then just drive off, but i bet he/she will regret it once the cops get a hold of he/she. They freak out, dont know what to do and then just drive off in a cowardly manner. Hit and run accidents are pretty severe and cops take these offences very seriously. Consider your self lucky that nobody was hurt, a bouncing tyre at 100kph+ is a lethal weapon, all sorts of things can go wrong. At least you got out of it unscaved, dont worry about cash, cash can't replace your health. Keep us posted on how things eventuate, we dont have enough information on cases like this, it's all mods and things that get over covered and repeated. Would be good for novices to read up on previous experiences and be prepared on how to deal with such scenarios in case they happend.

    Cheers

  4. That was Peekay and livfor6 driving side by side. As for cold air being worse, no way dude, the cooler the air, the denser, more combustion, more power. The stock exhaust is pretty good, infact i'll stick my neck out again and say that unless youre gona do internal work (cams etc) or forced induction, its a complete waste of money to think youre going to get massive gains from air intake and exhaust. We all know these engines are highly tuned, any tampering and you are more likely to loose power than make it.

  5. We are all smart enough to make our own decisions based on what has been written in previous subjects .. and if they want more info Im sure they can work out who they need to contact ....

Smart enough to make our own decisions on what has been written? thats exactly the problem. Based on what has been written? Had i made those decisions, i would have been several grand out of the pocket with maybe a blown engine or two. After someone has modified something, they will not have the balls to say it was a waste of money to make themselves look stupid now would they? They hide between figures which themselves are being led to believe hence lying to themselves.

  6. Would you say the gains made in the bottom make up for the loss in the top end, thats if the exhaust is not the cause of the loss

(I dont want to open up the debate)

Yeah for sure, all the loss from top end was gained throughout the revrange from 3-6000 rpm. it could be the exhaust, it could be the apollo, but the fact is the gain was only minimal 1-2 kw, either way the gains from the exhaust are not as drastic as some "others" which to me makes all their claims dubious. Put it this way, after driving an earler 03 model sportivo with 80 odd thousand k's and driving my car with the exhaust, there is no WOW factor as in yeah it's making a huge difference.

  7. I just think it's another thread to try and flog off the ces cai system, after all they do need to sell some now that they are making them, and what better way to advertise. No friggin way this thing gives you that much power than a trd unit, sounds like a scam. This whole ces thing has devalued the forum in my opinion!

  8. On my car(pre facelift) a gain of 9kw from the exhaust and TRD CAI a gain of just under 5kw. CES CAI had approximately 4kw more than TRD CAI with same filter.

Purely speaking on cai gains, are you saying the CES cai alone gave you an extra 4kW more than the TRD making it a total of just under 9kW? (not mentioning the exhaust). Thats some serious performance coming from a replica with a slightly larger diameter pipe. We are talking 100% improvement.
