  1. My Kluger OEM Bstone has gone to indicator soon after 43000km.

I just order from the US a set of Bridgestone Alenzas. They are rated very well in terms of wear, traction and comfort. 400 for the OEM. 600 for this tyre.

Quoted $1070 USD ($200 per tyre and $260 for shipment) which is like $1200 for 4 so $300 each. $10 per corner to put in and $70 for alignment.

I have not factored the tax if there is any but I will not buy the Toyo and Hankook which is unlikely made in Japan/Korea. They are prob made in Thailand. I just worry if I buy a set of those it will end up wearing out more quickly then OEM. I want some quality product - esp tyres.

If I want the one for the X5 and Caynenne - the Michellin Lattitude. They wear quickly and $260 US each.

Any import to Oz (privately) over $1000.00AUD per shipment will incur these fees..... GST, line transport & insurance and a customs declaration processing charge.

For example.....on a $1660.76 Computer Network Storage device I paid......

Transport & Insurance = $143.57 (just a BS customs charge)

    GST = $143.57

    Processing charge = $48.85

for a total item price of $2033.61

Then they had the hide to charge me a credit card fee to pay for the all the customs charges if I didnt show up in person to pay cash.

If you can import your stuff at less than $1000 invoiced value per shipment then you will avoid all the customs crap!

    Question.

I am tracking the tyres via the FedEx website.

Nov 29, 2009 10:55 PM In transit ALEXANDRIA AU Package available for clearance

Does that mean I have no duty to pay. I can't imagine they will release it when I have to pay something. LOL.

  2. Well I just did my 20,000km service and changed oil type to Valvoline full synthetic 0w-40 grade ($100 for 10lt V's $200 for the Mobil!), did the air filter and oil filter too.

Went for a drive to the IPRA club car nationals at Phillip Island for 2 days and did a return trip through Melbourne to pick up some tires for my RX7. All up trip was 840km and did an average of 9.2lt per 100km (on the way to PI (282km trip) it was 8.4lt per 100km *which is excellent*) at the track did lots of trips around the circuit perimeter over the two days and driving to and from camp ground etc and the traffic in Melb was just horrendous :( I don't know how people live there  (had to go into Richmond).

Anyway the new oil seems even better than the Mobil economy wise. Here is a pick of the mighty Kluger ready to go on track :D

Melbourne traffic - tell me about it. It has gone 10x worst in the last 10 years.

    Valvoline - I know what you mean ;) .... now. :)

  3. I've just about got a deal nailed down for the new Kluger and just need to decide on side-steps.

Can a few of those people who have them tell me their thoughts?

If you got a new Kluger would you have them on again?

Do they ever hit you in the shins getting in/out? (As one salesman advised me)

No side step for me, even my girls are 5 and 3 year old. They love climbing up the car.

Pricey for the Toyota version, much cheaper aftermarket. I opted nothing and still won't pay for it.

The only good thing I have is the tow bar, although I am not towing anything atm.

The tyres shopping is on your list very very soon. So forget about extras/options. Coz the stock ones are at best 40000km in life span, no matter what you do with alignment (even you have aligned every 10000km). Mine is at 43000km and if you measure anywhere it is bearly over 3mm of thread (just legal). I rotate tyres every 10000km.

  4. I want that Chinese logo! LOL

    Ashtray? Where is it?

The black Grande/Limited on the first page with tan interior has an ashtray in the 2nd cup holder and a lighter rather than another 12v outlet.

I want the 'Sport' door logo ;)

Oh I saw it. Thought it was a coffee lol.

Sport logo/badge is US based. The "KX-S" model of US is sport and "Grande" is Limited. Of course, the spec is slightly different.

  5. Im with HBA $6xx with, 2WD Kluger altitude down in Melbourne.

$600 in monthly payments in Melbourne with AAMI.

Isn't it a pointless thread when you cannot compare age, suburb and insuring amount.

Or it is a ****** game contest. RMFO

I would advice to requote insurance every 6 months and NEVER renew your insurance. Take another policy and let the old one expire.

  7. Had a friend in the car today who was pressing buttons on the nav system whilst I was driving and the reverse camera came on and stayed on for around 3-4mins then went off.

Anyone else had this happen or know a sequence of buttons to press to make it happen again, friend couldn't remember which buttons he pressed, but it looked really great to see the road/traffic behind me :D

Time to zap your friend's brain so he can have some flashbacks... it will be so cool.

Honestly. It could be a combination of buttons.

  8. Agree. Kluger back seat is ok for short trip, but anything over 30 minute is a pain. Going to air port is fine though, but putting all the suitcases in is a challenge and last time the suit case has to be under the child seat and in the "corridor".

My mum can just get into the back seat, because I have 2 young kids in child seat they have the get to the back via the middle empty "corridor" (seat taken out). It is not fun.

But when you have over 5 and under 15. They can go at the back and it is comfortable 7 seater.

  9. G'day all,

Just about to pickup my new AWD Grande tomorrow, and I was wondering if there is any success in find an over-ride or hack for the toyota Nav system fitted in the Grande's?

Also - is it true that the only compatible VAIS unit is the basic ipod box? (advanced ice seem to believe this is the case).

    Thanks in advance...

No I am afraid. I am sure if it comes, it will come as a module to cancel the speed.

But I am sure it can't kill the speed all together. If you go under the tunnel and lose the GPS signal, your car speed will continue to guide the location.

I guess a module to convert speed = 0 to say 5 will do I guess.

There are many unit to connect iPod to, but yet to see a unit that display CD text ... I guess there must be one outthere that I have not found out.

  10. I am 100% believe there is nothing to do with your car. It is the traffic and driving behaviour.

West Footscray to RCH you will get traffic, even you travel on Footscray road.

If you want to get good mileage out of it, it is not how hard you accelerate. You can sprint to 60 if you like.

The major cause of high fuel consumption is to stop. Hence, the more of stop, the more fuel you use. Even the 10 sec rolling towards the back of the car in front and start at around 20kmh.. you will get much better fuel consumption.

The KEY is SMOOTH! Not just women but if you enjoy driving, you will drive very smoothly. There is barely any sudden G forces.

I drive a round about the same speed as I am driving straight though <_<

Just keep the brake pedal unless you have to... then it will be fine.

I run around Kew and Templestowe area in 14L/100km in a fat Grande 4WD.

Also, motor oil really helps. Trust me. I used 5W30 Mobil 1 before and it is much better drive and fuel economy. Now it is on the dealer ***** oil and it is back to the 14 mark. Also wheel alignment, tyre pressure and stay away from Shell will also help. Start shopping at Safeway :).

  11. I just had a 40000km in a Melbourne dealer.

It is the 2nd time I was asked to to the EFI clean for $200 (I think)... their reasoning has been 1) it is something routinely should be done to keep the car running smoothly.. or 2) there has been a batch of bad fuel lately. (hmmm.....)

It is the 2nd time I refused to do it?

Am I smart or foolish. I am tempted to buy a $25 bottle of fuel cleaner though

Please Discuss. (but keep your tone down haha)

  12. I have a major rattle over speed humps on the center dash (behind the sat nav) area. Toyota could not find the rattle at 40000km service...

Rattle is not covered after 1 year/ 20000km. You have to pay for it to get it fixed!?

  13. No there are more options... not $550.

Search this forum. There are one person did this and called...... escape my mind... but search this part of forum it is there. I know such thing sold in Gary's car audio

  14. You most likely to change 4. I guess you use the search button for the tyre recommendation.

I personally will use Michelin but they are pricey, still cheaper than stock 19" tyres though. Not sure about 16" in Kx-R

  15. No they can't. Because:

I don't think so. I doubt retrospective infringement notice can stand much in court. There will be a serious judgement on the police officer and his memory. When a matter of IQ is put in court....... the matter will be dismissed.

Unless you think the police officer in the car has an IQ of 200. :P:
