  1. That is awesome!

I did regularly for 2 years from Narre Warren to Traralgon in a Camry V6. Back then it is barely over 140kW and return a 7.8 on 95 RON fuel and 8.2L on 91RON. So it is very impressive stuff.

  2. Balance and rotate is different from alignment.

Balance is the wheel spin perfectly and weight the same in all round edges.

Rotate is to change back wheel to front.

Alignment is to change the angle of the tyre aiming... that should cost money.

No need to balance wheel unless you change tyre.

So will unbalanced wheels cause damage? Or were they misleading me when they said the Kluger had expensive tyres and I should have the balance and rotate?

Do the wheels come out of the factory balanced?

They are factory balanced. You can feel an unbalanced wheel, esp in the front, coz your steering wheel will shake, due to the uneven rotation while driving.

Misalignment will give you funny feeling when turning, so one way turns better than other. Or uneven wear on tyres. If the centre of steering is not align, your car will steer to one way.

  4. It all comes down to 3 questions:

    1. How many kilometers we have to do to break even.

    2. Resale value increases after installation?

    3. Warranty is able to be kept? By Toyota? By LPGAS?

  5. Update

Problem solved(i hope), the alignment was way out, 4.2mm out, each side, so total over 8mm! No wonder it was "feathering", as they call it

They aligned all 4 wheels for free, but would not do anything about the tyres being worn unevenly. They say it is only covered under warranty if it was detected withint the first 1000ks, come on toyota, hows any tyre going to show problems with that little ks on the clock.

Oh well, my suggestion guys is if you think it is not wearing properly, insist on an alignment for free. $88 normal price for 4 wheel, which was done in house, so i have a copy of the report.

Ill see how the tyres go now that this problem is gone, they also recommend alignment every service, wow, service is $150, add $88, thats not on...unless it was 20ks between intervals...

+8mm toe out. You must have a good turn in! I must check my alignment too! Thanks

  6. Dental floss and hairdryer!

One it is off. Tar polish remover rather than glue remover which will eat paint. I only use glue remover on windows when I want to put some sticker on it.

  7. Is not just a 100hp TRD badge right? :P

If it is the real thing.. I will make really don't think they will put the TRD badge on it.

If it is supercharged, the bonnet will need extra room and you will remember a bulge like the Aurion TRD. I don't mind 240kW in my car though.

  8. You mean ISOFIX c****ats? No you cannot buy them in Australia thanks to the always stupid Australia Design Rules.

Import them from internet or eBay. My friend ever conscious wife brought one for her newborn (now 6 months) baby. It is all around Europe for close if not over 10 years.

  9. Just a note:

Beware anyone buying the BT Q-818 gps receiver. It is not capable of 5Hz update times, only 1Hz. I found this out the hard way, by jumping in and buying one first before doing the research into it's real capabilities. The BT Q-818 EXTREME is the one you want.

Paul, I don't know how electronically minded you are but you can tweak the unit to do 5Hz.

Personally, I don't understand a single thing they talked about. :D

PaulG, you could have easily kept your Qstarz and need not to return it. You can do any tweak according to the above link. All you need is the GPSview program from that link and change it.

I will prepare what I have done in my blog later. hehe.

  10. The guy got the RX-8 inside. They fitted one in a day, and he drives out telling the world about it because it was FREE!

Mind you they have a few bugs they had to fix after 6 months or so... but it was FREE

  11. I have driven the Kluger on the Great Ocean road.

You will not be able to break the land speed record but certainly on the speed limit (80kmh), the car handles with a lot of capability to spare. I can follow many sports cars along those road as long as they don't go over the speed limit, coz I am there to BE-HAVE ;).

Yes there is a lot of roll that no journalist will like. Ricey and I will be able to see pass that and feel the car more. After all, that is all we do on the race track - to feel the car.

I cannot agree of poor ride quality. It is very comfy on long trip. Power is just right and when you are used to Honda VTEC engine and NA rotaries, this is a lot of torque. Maybe the roll make them uncomfortable.

    To fix: Sway bars upgrade.

EDIT: I have not driven Territorist or Honda Wagon, but I have driven the Landrover Disco 3 and it feels very similar.

The best handling SUV is X6, but you don't want that!

  12. LGF, you sure?

I am looking at the manual and there are 2 sets of aux input, one set on the right of the box is connected to ipod (and printed iPod on the box), the square connector in the other side is for the controller (I think), and both square connector and the RCA lines comes into one as a iPod connector (prob the one in your glove box. There is another rectangle connector presumably going to the CD changer of the Toyota unit.

That leaves a set of red and white that is not used! On the left of the iPod RCA plugs.

Perheps if you get a 3.5mm plug to RCA lines there, you can connect the DVD to the headunit. That is what I wanna to do.

However, there is still a line and the kids will still can damage it. I prob need to put it under the lining and thru the B pillar and back to the unit or something like that. Need professional help I think.

Is there wireless solution to that???? I am sure this day and age a 3.5mm plug - Blue tooth - RCA will exist!

    Hi Taka

I had my unit professionally installed, didn't get to lay eyes on the box of tricks and so I can't be sure - i.e. I am out of my depth fairly quickly.

The hardcopy manual I was given matches http://www.vaistech.com/manuals/Manual_SL2i_v444.pdf - am I missing somthing as I can't see the RCA connectors you mention?

All these model number makes me so confused. Yeah I prob was looking at the SLi model not SL2i...

    PaulG,

Do you think only SLi work for Grande models? hmmm... I will trade off the menu business or the AUX input anyway. I am not really a iPod person and I have the 4th gen 20G iPod which is less than 1/2 filled... (shameful)

  13. I just had a look at mine and it does wear more than the inside and more then the rear.

I better rotate it. May be it is time to wheel align it a little. I must complain to the Toyota next time servicing, which is next month. I am on 19000km.

EDIT: And I am on 38 psi all the time. It goes down to 35 every time I check it. So it is higher than recommended pressure anyway.

Wheel alignment won't be covered under the 150 deal. Unless you complain well.

I don't trust them doing my wheel alignment anyway. I have my guys to do them.
