  1. You sound like you're after what I was after last week.

    I would've bought the C Drives, but found some Falkan 26912 in 215/60/16 for my Aurion for $135.

    Bob Jane had a sale last week and something that was recommended was still a little more expensive than the Falkans..

    Time will tell on the mileage, but the worst comment I found re: the Falkan's was they were terrible in the snow! That's not a problem for me!

    I share your concerns re: theft of wheels with something other than stock, but also the increased price over the 16" sizes.

    How often did you rotate the tyres front to rear?

  2. Headlight and bonnet protectors for the Aurion are $80 apiece at the dealers.

    Ebay has them for $62 + $12 postage.

    Anyone know another, cheaper source?

    edit:

    Nunawading Toyota $70

    Yarra Valley Lilydale $68

    Yarra Valley Croydon $73.15 Same company..strange? I was quoted $80 across the counter last week.

  3. Thanks.

    To summarize for others....

    The knock can occur at cold starts but it's not consistent. It commonly develops just before a service is due, then disappears after the service. Maybe the car knows it's due? :rolleyes:

    There was a short video re: an oil additive, which may or may not be useful?

  4. I read this @ productreview.com.au. First I've heard of such a thing.

    Overall: I have the 2006 sportivo sx6 and I like everthing about this car. Was going to look at the camry sportivo but because i took my husband when i bought it we got the bigger option. Got the fuel down to 6.9L/100km on highway on cruise control, which is good considering I live out west. Only setback is this knock in the engine. Toyota say the only thing they can do is replace the pistons to a bigger size but I'll lose my fuel economy. Or I just have to put up with it and pray it does not blow the engine up. Wondering if any other aurion owners have had similar problems and what they have been able to do about it.
  5. Here is the Red book summary for '08 Prodigy:

    * Private Price Guide $25,500 - $28,200

    * Trade In Price Guide $21,100 - $23,800

    * Average Km 30,000 - 50,000

    I got it for b/w the high trade in and the low private price @24.5K. Mats added :rolleyes: 36K ks, with books. That's $15.5K off the new price. :o and really, it's not far past a decent run in!

    12months left on warranty plus a limited $1000 per claim warranty for 15mths after that. That didn't cost anything more.

  6. Well I tested it extensively...just driving...and it goes very well, stops very well, looks fine and has the 15K and 30K service stamps done...no details though other than date. The car is from interstate though? Why is that I wonder?

    Today I found a car yard just 3ks from me with 10 ATX and Sportivo's for less than $24K. I'll look closer tomorrow.

  7. Yep. :rolleyes:

    The car suits our needs and is up to date with safety specs, airbags, vsc etc...growing family needs to fit.

    A small second car just doesn't hack it. I've looked at the Camry, and it might, but for a few $ more, the Aurion offers quite a bit.

    Relatively cheap to run, reliable and the $120 advantage plan is nice too. And no issues about which car to take!

    I've looked at Maxima's and did find one, but my SO hated the cream leather seats.

    Any other suggestions?

  8. I'm looking at a Prodigy, still with one year warranty. It's at a dealer and comes with a warranty extension.

    It has less than 40K on it and comes with a service history.

    Here is the Red book summary:

    * Private Price Guide $25,500 - $28,200

    * Trade In Price Guide $21,100 - $23,800

    * Average Km 30,000 - 50,000

    I'm wondering what a dealer might sell one for this time of year and whether Toyota's international recall problems might have an effect on their bottom line?

    Help me with a list of things that might reduce the cost please? What tactics might save me a few $?

  9. I've had a look at Falken 26912 in 215/60/16 for my Aurion today and might get them.

    However Bob Jane have the Xenon Z7 on sale at the moment.

    If prices were comparative, which would be the better tyre? Family car...commute/occasional country runs. Doesn't get driven hard, and mostly by my wife. (I prefer my m/c)

    edit: Falkens it was at $135 each. The Xenon's were a tad more as per their brochure.

  10. Anyone has used any other tyres that are sticky and good for some playing around let me know....

    Cheers.

    Mick

    Not really a high performance tyre, but I got some Kumho Ecsta LX KU27s fitted the other day (215/55/16) and they are a bit better than the standard Dunlops for a lot cheaper.

    How much were they?

    Can anyone tell me anything about Yokohama C-drive tyres? I've used Yokos before and can't complain. Family car use/commute/occasional country runs.

    The stock Dunlops are close to shot at 41K.

  11. Just make sure of the usual things like regular servicing that is documented etc. Our 11/07 Ateva with 35K on the clock has the intermediate shaft issue which is now on order under warranty. It does have a slight dash rattle but only when going over things like bridge joints. Overall I am happy with our purchase.

    Thanks. So sounds pretty bullet proof then.

  12. Ask for a copy of the policy. Ensure you know exactly what you're paying for.

    List the benefits on a separate piece of paper.

  13. Ok, i have the same problems with the clunking coming from the LH front wheel when rolling slowly and applying the brakes....

    What would be a good phrase to say to the toyota team when i call them?... as in, its there a technical part i should ask to be replaced etc....?

    You assistance appreciated.

    Just tell them there's a knock, from the steering area. Mention the intermediate shaft. Await the response.

    Yep had my service done, and asked for the noise to be looked at... i have reported the noise for the last 4 service intervals (i get them done each 7500km)

    Toyota response, "There is a small amount of play in your left hand rack, its nothing to worry about"

    Hmm.. The noise is still there, and i cant say that im in an way happy..?

    My Aurion is a 2006 Sportivo sx6, and such is out of warranty.

    Any thoughts for aftermarket assistance... suspension company? or steering company?

    Thanks

    When did you first report it? It's obviously a known issue and despite the out of warranty situation if you can show you reported the problem when it was still in warranty then maybe they have a case to answer?

  15. - And what appears to be the infamous 'clunk'.

    ...

    They have told me that the problem was a loose engine mount - I think not - nothing has changed since they torqued that up.

    UPDATE: They have (after four visits), replaced the intermediate shaft and presto - problem gone!

    Cheers,

    SkyHigh.

    :o

    Hi All, after reading about all these steering issues which seem to be quite common,I started to notice a slight thud noise coming from the LH side whilst going over slight irregularities in our street, so I got the wife to rock the steering wheel back and forth quickly with the engine off and stuff me drunk the LH steering rack end (rod coming out of the convaluted boot) is knocking like a bitch.So I rang the service department this arvo and asked them whats this issue I hear regarding Aurions steering and he replied, Oh you mean the knock involving the intermediate shaft,(so dont let them fool you into believing the problem does not exist)I said well mines got it and when I told him our ZR6 is only 6 mths old and we bought from his dealership he said that it should already have the updated shaft.Anyway he wants to have a listen to it, check to make sure it is it ,order in whats needed.

    But to be honest to me it only sounds like the steering rack rod wants tightening up or if they are like other rack and pinions a nylon bush replaced at the joint nipped up to the correct torque.

    Can any one of you who have had this knoking noise help pin point whether it is the intermediate shaft or the rack rod making the noise in our MY10 ZR6.BY the way the cars only got 16000 ks on it

    never hit a pot hole :help:
