Fuel Economy

Hi,

      I have just bought a 2014 Camry RZ.

What sort of mileage is normal in these?

And is there anything you can do to make it better.

Seems to only do about 9l per 100km.

Which seems pretty crap for a 4 cyl.

I could get those from a VF V8 wagon I had recently.

on a 4 hour trip to melbourne my fuel use shows 6.5 without air con being used and 7.2 when I use the air conditioner. Around our country town, reasonably short stop /starting, average shows 9.8. We are senior drivers and only use mild footwork on the go pedal. ha, ha !   Government test says 7.8 average, 6 on trip and 10.9 around town. You do not say if your figure is for highway or around suburbs driving. Remember these in car guides are just that a guide only.

Your VF figure is very low as government tests show average 11.7, 8.5 on trips, 17.2 around town

Are/were both vehicles manual transmission?

I have had an automatic trans Generation 3 Camry and now have a manual transmission one. Both had the same engine - 5SFE

This current manual model uses around 20% less fuel than the automatic car. Also has lots more power.
