how ya going

i got hold of my old mans liteace about 2 weeks ago, took it on a camping trip and what a mistake that was, i went through $130 worth of fuel to travel 600 ks just under 4 full tanks. I am wondering if a motor of a later model hiace would bolt in i want abit more power as i couldn't do over 110 with a tail wind. My dad mentioned it's a 2y motor or something.

any help would be great

cheers

Hi,

I don’t think any of the Hiace engines will fit but you can get on to a non genuine 4Y engine like we did, my father has a 86 Liteace 4X4 and it came with a 3Y new, back in 2004 we replaced the 3Y with one of these 4Ys and a new carbie, best thing we have ever done, it has almost halved the fuel consumption and the power increase is very surprising, and the increase would be even more in your one as its not 4X4. Plus it has not given us much trouble at all it’s done about 35000 plus a trip across the contry.

If you see here, http://www.japparts.com.au/products/Aftermarket-engine.htm I think it would be best if you were to go the long carbie motor as I think some things like the distributor ect are different between the 2Y and 4Y, but we whent the short one as the 3Y and 4Y share a lot on common, but it will bolt strait up, but I should just say its not a job for a novice !

Just ask if you have any more questions
