Ive been noticing big brother adds on TV and bill bords

and just thought i would let you know i have taken the following steep so i miss it...

i have untuned CH 10 from the TV, thats right no more CH 10 in my house.

my wife was not to happy as she likes that show called Neighbours but i told her that Home and away will fix her need to watch ****ty acting and bad story lines.

and then my wife said how long for and i said till late in the year because after this **** BB then you get this crap Australian (i cant sing) idol, and i will be damed if i will be watching that.

I have said this a thousand times before on threads on all car sites relating to shows that people do not like.

IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO WATCH THE SHOW - USE THE BASIC MOTOR SKILLS TAUGHT TO YOU AS A CHILD, AND TURN THE TV OFF OR CHANGE CHANNELS

I am really sick and tired of people making bullsh!t complaints and arrogant comments about how crap a show is and how we need to all act together and write to have the show taken off air when all they need to do is not look at the bleedin' screen.

It's a simple equation. TV is an entertainment and educational medium. The information that is broadcast is designed to either educate you or entertain you. News for example, is designed to be educational

Big Brother is designed to be an entertainment broadcast, just like football, Video Hits, Sit-Coms, Soapies, Cartoons and Oprah.

If you are looking to be educated or entertained, and are not, change channels or turn your TV off.

If you do not like the show, change channels ot turn your TV off.

Puzzleman, I think you have issues that can easily be resolved by you selling your television.

It saddens me that enough people watch it to justify continuing to make it. Kinda reflects badly on us as human beings. Especially when it's so popular that channel 10 give it about 10 hours worth of prime timeslots a week.

Of course I do as Azza says, change the channel or find a better use for my time. And when my friends start talking about it I stop giving them lifts to work/uni :)

it's all about the ratings... just because a couple of 1000s of ppl don't like it doesn't mean that it's crap... u still have to account for the millions of other australians watchin it... if u don't like it change the channel... oh n wat bout rove live or simpsons etc etc etc they'r pretty good shows too... so i don't think u could blame ch10 for a couple of crap shows since they do infact provide some good ones... u'r not gonna die if u change the channel so deal with it

The reason it's worth boycotting channel 10 for airing big brother is the "collateral damage" it causes on otherwise decent programs.

By that I mean - Just about every channel 10 program you watch will either be bombarded with BB ads, will have discussions of BB during that program, or will have BOTH!

And the collateral damage doesnt stop there.

It's on billboards, it's on radio, it's even at your local fast food outlet with the kids behind the counter jabbering on about how much they can completely relate their life

to a vapid individual with a wart for a personality - without having met individual of course....

i hate it because you cant just TURN THE TV OFF OR CHANGE CHANNELS even if you do you still here about it....

Yeah... you turn off your tv but ppl still talk about it... I despise the show but a few ppl I know really enjoy it which is strange... It gets frustrating though when you switch on your tv for the simpsons or something and big brother has some stupid double-trouble-mega-eviction special episode... but it's no different to Idol or the biggest loser, which indeed are nearly as bad... can you believe the biggest loser has the 7pm timeslot? Serious amounts of ppl must watch these things

I agree with most here and turn the TV off or change channels or even get foxtel so you never have to watch free to air again(Almost hey JC:))

for my own personal fitness, to motivate myself into thinking that i gotta make sure im never gonna get that big - i believe biggest loser is a more educational worthwhile reality tv program to watch than big brother.

the soap opera aspect of the show where they get into the interpersonal relationships and fights n sh!t makes it a really big brotherish, but just like big brother, thats what some people want to see on tv.

the lives of those contestants are actually being saved by shedding that weight, and they also provide some decent advice that you can do 4 yourself at home! so i dont believe its right to put big bro and big loser in exactly the same category.

however, if it were a program where they were glamorising plastic surgery or some other unrealistic crap then id put it in the same bin as big bro.

all the $$$ theyre spending on billboards and crap is surely gonna mean more viewers.

but then again, bb and shows like the adults only edition didnt need to do a lot of promoting, since it was the controversy caused by shows like today tonight and a current affair try to grab some of big brothers viewers by highlighting the negatives of the show, saying stuff like "EXPOSED - WHAT BB DIDNT WANT YOU TO SEE", watch today tonight to find out why "BB SHOULD BE CANCELLED".. bla... crap.. etc.

THOSE SHOWS DONT GIVE A CRAP ABOUT CANCELLING BB!?!

WAKE UP! THEY WANT BB TO STICK AROUND!

politicians, current affairs programs and members of the community can complain all they want using tv,newspapers and magazines, but they are only adding to the "controversy" and "intrigue" that sucks curious viewers in.

like it or not, until channel 10 chooses to cut the show.. its a monster that channel 10 and the other channels can gain ratings with if they mention it on their showz. it wont go away any time soon unless someone gets stabbed and killed in the house.

Whether you are a fan or not, BB has a massive viewer base. The sponserships that keep rolling in for it, as well as the massive amounts of money they make from the call in (1900# & SMS votes) is incredible. So as far as the viewers are concerned, it ain't going anywhere.

So what do we make of the controversy? I am more appauled that anyone cared what was broadcast on the Adults Only/Uncut version. Anyone that has watched the titty movies on SBS will know that there really ain't nothing to worry about. Doodles and peter-folders are things that we have all seen before, and yes, while it may not alsways be the most neccessary thing to see on TV, unfortunately it sits like this:

Big Brother is about the public evicting the nominated housemate that they want removed from the show. If you were a veiwing member of the public, then the decision as to which viewer you want eliminated needs to based on the most accurate information you have. By not broadcasting the Uncut edition, you are not seeing the whole picture and personality of a housemate. We all say the 'F' word, and we all have occasions where our bits may be on the outside of our clothing. After spending time at the Army Recruit Training Centre at Kapooka, I can tell you that a lot of the best conversations we had (most animated and fun) were while we were standing around in the showers......all naked like....

So therefore it is like this, should a housemate like to say 'F' bombs a lot, and really only come out of their shell when the conversations are anything other than 'G' rated, then unfortunatly, by only broadcasting the drib-drab 'Daily' show, then as a viewer, you would not be seeing the whole picture.

At the end of the day, the Uncut show was broadcast later at night (I don't think I ever saw it on after 22:00) and was blazened with warnings about it's content. Most of the tea-totallers should be in bed by that stage anyways.

I will always have the same thoughts about BB though, even though the show is not like it was when it first started. That it, that BB was a Social Experiment to see how a group of people in a confined controlled environment react to situations pu to them that are beyond their control.

I like it, and I will continue to watch it.....

On a side note, will AO be shown again after the "incident" last year? The only piece of BB ever worth watching was whats-her-name-with-the-fake-cans getting them out last year....

i know for a fact that there are allot of people that don't like and hate our oh so great (eyes rolling) prime minister John Howard... but for some reason he's still our prime minister... why... it's because there are infact millions upon millions of other australians (the PUBLIC) that voted for him so he could keep his job...

it's the same with big brother... you might hate it n thousands of other people might hate it too... but as long as there's a HUGE number of viewers then it's gonna stay on just like our prime minister

oh n with the uncut version... what the hell is the big problem... the DO show it after 9.30pm dont they? they DO put an MA sticker on it with a billion warnings dont they? there ARE other shows on other networks that've shown worse haven't they? i mean last time i checked they already found a cure for cooties... 1hr a week of dangling bits n no bleeps won't kill anyone n if u haven't been cootie vaccinated yet then guess wat... go to bed

friday night games were good, but NOT as good as the original ITS A KNOCKOUT which ch.10 loosely made references 2 while hyping up the friday night games in commercialz.

neither of them beat the japanese showz from agez ago. TAKESHIS CASTLE FTW!
