Lincoln executives were concerned about the heavy and wide doors on the Mark VIII in the early 1990's especially in large cities with tight parking spots. They were toying with the idea of a Mark VIII that had doors that disappeared beneath the car which would require no additional space for the doors to swing open in order to allow the occupant to exit or enter.

holy cow.. !! but can n e 1 really wait that long for all that to happen ? lol i dont think i can b bothered

imagine you had a flat battery from leaving the lights on. Or better yet, you parked over some rocks or a speed hump, imagine the scratches on the door when it goes under the car. LOL

I think the door actually goes into a compartment between the interior and exterior of the car, kind of like a slot. so you shouldn't have to worry about what you parked over.

yeah it goes into a slot...can see it in the vid...still awesome but yeah could get annoying waiting to get in or out...novely would wear off

good idea but obviously hasn't taken off.

A slight ding in the side and the window wont go down, which probably would result in being stuck in the car...oops

Good find
