Hey folks,

Just thought id share some Toyota comedy. I tried to book in for my 20,000km service via my dealers online booking system. They recommended the following:

20,000km service - $174

New Wiper blades - $62

Fuel Injector Service - $90

Wheel rotation, balancing and alignment - $105

Haha, just the 20,000km service for me thanks Toyota. Anyone else been charged ridiculous amounts, or had similiar Toyota madness?

Anyone have any idea how often the fuel injector servicing should be done?

The prices they've given you are average prices, wiper rubbers on the newer Corollas are a little more expensive as they're a lot thicker...

The Fuel Injector Flush is just a can that gets hooked up to your fuel line, the car is started and run till the can is empty... It's basically a fuel and a cleaner mixed into one... I've never really investigated it's performance and how well it works however... The best thing to do for your injectors is an ultrasonic bath cleaning but this involves removing the injectors and cleaning them in the machine... Will cost you around $200 this way... If the cans weren't so expensive, it would probably be a good thing to get done every service...

It's a good idea to rotate your tyres to keep the better tyres on the front... You'll have a better drive and your tyres will last longer too... I rotate and balance my tyres every 10,000kms... But thats cause I do it myself lol...

I once had a dealer recommend injector cleaning at 50000K and $95 for my 2001 Camry V6. Local injector specialist said if it ain't broke don't fix it...That was 30000ks ago and I haven't had any problems with them. Same will apply for my recently acquired 2005 Corolla Hatch. In fact I am seriously considering doing my own work on this one as well even with 15mths NCW still on it.

Just watch when rotating wheels that you don't have unidirectional tyres such as my Camry, 17inch alloys and the tyretread pattern is designed primarily for one direction only, so the fronts go to the rear and vice versa but on the same side of the vehicle.
