where is the CD stacker

Gibbo

Recommended Posts

On my console it says CD... but I only have a radio and cassete...

is it someplace else?

I can not find it, maybe i don't have one...

ohh...sorry I didn't quite read it properly.. So in the single din headunit, there's 3 buttons "CD" "Tape" "Radio" ? right?

Absolutely, that's it...

but no CD in the boot or under the seat or anywere...

must have been an option.

I'v got one of those 'big' amps someplace... so I'll mount that, replace the f /r speakers and install a player, I guess...

I do miss a sunroof though, I like to just pop the rear up, not fully open... but that's not going to happen.

Maybe later I'll look into a later model and seek one out with the options I want...

Don't really know enough about Cammies yet to know which model to go for...

But the Gen 3 is a great car...I take the long way home :)

Thanks u reply.

In the Touring Series, they had the CD player, but didn't have the stacker in the boot like the Ultima/Grande. They're a double din HU, and sound like shyt so I really wouldn't bother investing in one honestly.

An aftermarket HU with MP3 capabilities (even DVD) would be a good idea... the stock speakers sound pretty damn good with that too :)

My Touring Wagon has the Fujitsu 6 CD stacker in the boot.

Agree that the stock stereo set-up leaves something to be desired, but I suspect that has more to do with the crappy speakers than the head unit - Fujitsu Ten actually make sublime headunits under their "Eclipse" moniker, I would think that even these stocker head units would be of a reasonable standard if coupled to decent amps/speakers via a line-out converter, which is something I'm considering.

I dislike the way that aftermarket decks tend to look completely out of place in the dash, especially in cars like the Camry where the interior is so bland to begin with...

Hmmm, I guess any sound system is only as good as its weakest link.

Maybe I'm just hoping that it's the speakers that are crap bec I really don't want to put in an aftermarket head-unit;

I actually have a terrific audiophile head-unit sitting in my garage (it's an older Eclipse flagship unit - 16V line-outs, balanced lines, digital sound processor, parametric EQ etc), I just can't decide if I am happy to lose the stock look by installing it.

And the Eclipse head-unit isn't even that blingy:

Seriously mate, the speakers are fine... mine belted out heaps better with the Mosfet 50w on each channel... PMPO of course... but hell, I know someone who has a mad-***** system in his Camry and hasn't even taken the rears out because really- they're not bad at all :P

I would however, replace the fronts if you're gettin power. I'm just saying, the Toyota CD HUs are just utter crap - look at any forum and they'll have the same answer.
