91 Corolla GTI (4age)

The car starts and runs perfectly normally for at least 15 klms of normal driving, after this the engine misses under revs and ordinary load. This appears to be reduced when floored but thsi may be a red herring on the basis of more fuel more revs hiding the miss fires.

It seems to be a heat build problem, posibly a sensor that is starting to fail but I have no idea which is likely to cause this problem. If I disconnect the throttle position sensor the missing magically disappears however I don't know what effect this has on the computer, does anyone know what the throttle sensor might do to the ecu.

all the tps does is give a signal to the ecu in relation to engine load it usually pronounces itself by causing a flat spot at a certain throttle position.

is it chewing alot of fuel? check things like the vaccume hose off the fuel pressure regulator if the inside of the hose is wet its stuffed try clamp off the fuel line to the cold start injector its in the center of the plenum by memory or clamp the return line while idling for a few seconds
