Celica ST204 Carbon Fibre bonnet

I was spending time looking around for a new bonnet for my 204 and after having trouble with the mismatches in colour (damn typical red and black) since mine is dark blue, some guy told me he's got a carbon fibre of the same bonnet in stock. I was immediately interested since I know for a fact they're hard to snatch up and are known to be a lot lighter with slightly better looks. The price on top was unbelievable ($250 since he wants to get rid of it).

However, i haven't got much experience with handling carbon fibre. I heard about clear coat and stuff like that by googling carbon fibre stuff, but I'm not sure if i should snatch it up. My best alternative is far more expensive:

Buy black and respray to dark blue for matching = ~$500

Buy CF bonnet = $250.

It's a large difference. Please shed some advice my way.

Thanks.

sure it isnt fibreglass?

if its real cf, buy it sell it, paint your bonnet :D

He did tell me over the phone it's real carbon fibre. I tried to trick him out of it by saying..."is it painted?" and he just said..."umm, it's carbon fibre...i dunno whatever it looks like but yes it's greyish but that's not the paint".

So i'm going to go in tomorrow check this bonnet out. You can tell from the sound the metal makes when you knuckle it or even the temperature of it to compare with fibreglass. But ye, i'm most probably getting it.
