g'day. New members. We are looking at buying a very cheap hilux surf 1990 model with 211000 on the clock. Does any one have a surf and what are they like? are they reliable, good enough for north queensland 4wding? love to hear from some fans and detractors to get a good idea of what we might be getting into. thanks for your time. Mate, don't bother. I've worked at a few different Toyota dealerships over the years - these things can't handle our climate, they cook easily, and they cost a sh!t load to fix. A lot of the parts are different from Australian compliance Hiluxes and can be very expensive and hard to source. If you buy an Australian compliance vehicle (i.e. Toyota that was sold new ion a Toyota dealership) you won't have any issues.
