Best prices for new Corolla Ascent?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I am currently looking at buying a new manual Corolla Ascent sedan with the safety pack and cruise and want to find out what the best price out there is (if you're a dealer) or what you bought one for recently (if you're an owner)?

Over the weekend I test drove a number of cars around Brisbane and my top 3 were the Mazda 3, the Civic and the Corolla (not in that order :) ).

Both the Civic and the Mazda seem to be retailing close to $24k with cruise (std on Civic) and airbags (not available on the civic unless you go up from the base model).

The Civic had a really hard suspension, and seemed to have a bit of a notchy gearbox, still quite expensive (I think it's out of the race)

The Corolla looks the cheapest RRP at the moment... drove well and had a better range of colours than the civic, nice 6 speed gearbox and comfortable ride, but no DSC.

The mazda 3 had a great ride, the best handling and power, and nice little extras like the aux and power in the center console and the seatbelt warning lights for the back.

The $$$ are pushing me towards the Corolla though at the moment.

If anyone could give me some good figures that they have negotiated recently it would really help with my descision to go Corolla as the Mazda is looking perhaps a bit too expensive for what you get.

What have you had thown in with your purchases? (Matts etc?)

Thanks All,

PandA

Thanks for the link Silvabullit,

Just seeing if anyone here has had any 'recent' experience, the deals and offers seem to change week by week.

Good back up info though.

I'm the starter of that thread and I got my new Automatic Corolla Ascent Sedan (April 08 build, April 08 compliance) for 22,096, including metallic gray paint, floor mats, premium plates for free and headlamp protectors for $93. They had the car in stock so I'm not sure about the cruise control and airbags (I think it's a $1.5k upgrade) if they have to do a factory order.

Apparantly 22.5k is the lowest most dealers will do in Sydney for an auto with metallic paint as I have tried haggling hard with a few other dealerships. You might be able to get a new manual Corolla Ascent for about the 22-23k range I suppose with the options you want. The 2nd best offer I had was 22.3k for a white (non-metallic) automatic stock ascent with floor mats (seems to be a popular freebie, it is pretty handy as I had a look around and can't really find mats that would perfectly cover the entire backseat area! It doesn't look as nice as the pics though, for sure.) and premium plates.

The only reason I chose the Corolla over the Mazda3 was fuel economy and TCO based on resale value and maintenance. Haven't tried the Mazda 3 yet but it is allegedly a better drive. :) The Lancer ES retails for a little less I believe but the TCO would probably be higher.

Thanks for the info Derfel,

Thats exactly what I found. The purchase price for the Corolla seems to be lower, the serviceing fixed for 3yrs is a huge advantage and the extras seem ok.

The Mazda did seem to drive better, but the resale wouldn't be as good, though I did like the DSC option.

Jordy may be able to help with the price to make it a bit sweeter :D do you have access to fleet rates (I work for a company that has a toyota fleet)?

Private Message me with a deal if you like.
