Upgrade to a celica ?

Hi guys

I was just wondering would going from a corolla sportivo to a 7th gen celica be considered upgrading ? and is it worth it ?

I'm guessing, but I figure the ZR Celica would be an upgrade in terms of specification (interior etc) but I have heard rumors that the Corolla Sportivo is faster in stock form.

Depends what your looking for mate, personally I love the fact that my Sportivo looks like a Corolla with a bodykit, makes it easier to frighten the pants off those who dont know that its going to scream like a banshee when you hit 6000rpm . . . . :D

I agree with what JC said. It'd be more fun passing a young P plater in lift, in a Sportivo rather than a Celica.

For starters they aren't expecting it, the look on their face is priceless.

Plus the Sportivo has 4 doors. More useful.

I'm not sure about the Sportivo being quicker?

I thought the Celica is about 100kg lighter because it has independent suspension or something?

I'm just guessing though.

At the end of the day, it comes down to what you want and prefer more.

It's the 7th Gen ZZT231 which has the 2ZZ-GE in it.

The 7gen front is simply porn. I think the back leaves a bit to be desired personally, but oh ***, that front...

I wouldn't hesitate if it were me. I really try to see my mate's heavily modded Corolla as a sports car, but I just can't.

Or you could wait a few months and see what happens with the rumors about the '09 celica...

Yeah celica is definatley an upgrade. Make sure you get either 99 or 00 model. 02+ models have a lower limiter and lift kicks in later so they are a bit slower. And a stock celica is quicker than a stock sportivo.

I think the 02+ models had their lift bolts revamped because the 00-01 tended to fail. It doesn't damage the engine if they do, it just degrades the performance. Toyota might have a fix for it though, this is just what I've read.

Yeah they tend to break however it doesnt degrade performance. You can upgrade the lifts bolt though like most people. doesnt really do much.

well i just came back from a test drive.... and i think i'll be sticking to the corolla, the celica is a sportier drive as you sit a lot lower but engine performance wise I honestly could not tell the difference in fact lift seems to kick harder in the sportivo probably due to my CAI :P

I think if ur after a sportier feel then celica is the go for you but overall not much difference what you loose in sports seats and feel you gain in leather seats and climate control
