My New Varex Exhaust (Need Help)

Just picked my ZR6 up from the local exhaust shop.

Got 2x Varex Oval Cannon's

On starting up the car i was somewhat disappointed with the sound. He told me there was 2 stock Resonators and he had left them in there because he ran out of time.

He said he would cut them out and replace with straight through pipe.

I am pretty sure the videos i have seen here have removed these resonators and was wondering if the had removed just one or both..

Can anyone help me out..

You mean you got the oval Varex, since the canon is a different design altogether. As for the sound output, the resonator on the Aurion does a pretty decent job. I do agree that it isn't as loud as you would think, but this is mainly because the straight through design of the Varex has some muffling abilities as well and is not a true straight pipe.

Have you got any more photos of your Varex fitment there. Looks like they did a pretty good job.

Anyways, there is only one resonator under the car, the smaller looking thing towards the front of the car is a catalytic converter. I'd highly recommend not removing that.

As for removing the resonator and/or cat, so far two people come to mind. DAR1US had removed his cat and resonator plus on top he has dual canon Varex, this was the end result:

ELEGNT on the other hand has just removed his resonator, and this was the end result. He is running dual straight through SuperCat Resonators at the rear though, slightly similar to an oval Varex when open:

I'm going to take it back down tomorrow and get him to take out the Resonator (Taking your advice and leaving the CAT)

And am pretty confident that will give me the sound i was looking to achieve in the first place.

Yeah, I'm just curious how he mounted it cause mine was placed as high up as it can go and it looks like yours sits higher than mine:

I'm not complaining though. Haven't had any issues with mine and it looks alright the way it sits.

Nah mate. Still have the resonator on my car. Actually, the resonator doesn't cut out TOO much of the sound. It's just the combination of having a glass-pack straight through with the resonator that leads to a quiet note. I had a cut-out before which pretty much opened the exhaust up right behind the resonator, and it sounded really nice, not too loud but still with some bark. When I put the Varex on, it lost all that bark.

My car spends a lot of time at high revs so I'm not too fussed about removing my resonator.

Maybe its just the black body plus shots at night that's y. ;)
