Hello ,can anyone help. I have a 1990 hilux Surf that is stuck in 4wd after i have pressed the button on the stubby lever to deactivate my fun in the mud.Does anyone know if there is any type of manual deactivation.

The last time I had a problem like this it was a small branch jammed the actuator, roll underneath and have a look around.

You could be experiencing dif wind up, which is puting reverse pressure on the gears.

To fix, try hitting the button to deactivate 4wd and then hook reverse gear and go backwards a few metres, or you could spin the wheels a bit, but thaats not as easy on tarmac.

Used to happen all the time on my old Patrol, engaging reverse and backing up a short way used to fix it.
