What tyres?

Hi All,

Recently purchased a '06 Kluger CVX, very happy.

Just a quick one tho! its done just over 45K and looks like needing a set of new tyres... any suggestions?

99% driving will be on sealed roads and a very small amount on sand and unsealed roads. Any suggestions for a newbie

would be appreciated.

You'll need to specify your tyre size before anyone can properly advise.

Check out http://www.tirerack.com/indexA.jsp - US site, so many tyres not available here, but heaps of good info & reviews.

I recently put Yokohama Geolandars on my Kluger (16"). Requested a tyre that would handle freeway driving and the ocassional beach and off road romp these were recommended as well as a cheaper brand but I have always been happy with Yokos on my other cars so decided to stick with it. Haven't been off road yet but happy with them so far.

Hi Trentgiz,

Thanks for the info, at least it gives me somewhere to start. Were you given a rough estimate of how many k's you would reasonable expect from a set?

What did they set you back?

Thanks mate

BFG or Yokohama make good tyres for big cars.

Dad has BFG on his Prado and he loves it.

He does change them when it leaves about 50% of tread though just for safety.

Didn't ask about the k's to be honest, they set me back $1350 for 5 and wheel alignment, though I did notice they are on special at Bob Jane at the moment (like almost $50 off per tyre - <_< not happy)

Cheers, Trent

Pirelli Scorpion STR's on my kluger and very happy. Mostly onroad driving, but the few dirt roads and tracks etc I have driven on have been no drama's. A big step up from the standard Dunlops.

They also do a Scorpion ATR if you plan on spending even more time on dirt etc.

Cheers
