Hi all,

We have a 2009 SX6 RAV4. Question I am hoping someone can answer. The wife was taking the Tom Tom off the front windscreen and unfortunately the mounting bracket broke and a small spring has fallen down the air vents used for demisting the windscreen.

What should we do and can it cause any damage???

Her's hoping not.

Cheers mmm

You're pretty safe from it causing any damage. At the worst, it would most likely just rattle around then eventually work it's way to the blower motor. If it gets there, it could make a bit of noise, but at least it would then be easier to remove.

Thanks DJKOR.

Should I wait and see what happens? If it does end up at the blower motor where is this located?

The blower motor is located behind your glove box. They usually unscrew at the bottom then just drop down.

Personally, I'd try to get the spring out as soon as you can, but I'm just saying that if you don't, it most likely won't cause any damage. You'd have to be extremely unlucky for it to jam up the blower motor or break something in there.

If it hasn't fallen too far you could try to get it out with a magnet, or maybe some Blu-tac on a stick. You might need a mirror and torch to see down the vent!
