C66 vs EC60

Just thought I'd post this if anyone was interested.

As you know in early 2009 there was a revision to the gear ratio for manual corollas.

The former ratios in the C66 were:

- 1st gear ratio :1 3.166

- 2nd gear ratio :1 1.904

- 3rd gear ratio :1 1.310

- 4th gear ratio :1 0.969

- 5th gear ratio :1 0.815

- 6th gear ratio :1 0.725

- reverse gear ratio :1 3.250

The revised ratios in the EC60 are:

- 1st gear ratio :1 3.538

- 2nd gear ratio :1 1.913

- 3rd gear ratio :1 1.310

- 4th gear ratio :1 0.971

- 5th gear ratio :1 0.818

- 6th gear ratio :1 0.700

- reverse gear ratio :1 3.333

What is the final drive ratio, and did it change?

Not sure if it changed, I wouldn't imagine that it changed though.

yes, and the later ones are terrible with that stupidly low 1st gear and too tall 6th. the 6 speed box now only has 4 useful gears. 6th gear change was almost certainly to help published economy figures, but the engine really struggles with it in hilly areas, so you are constantly dropping back to 5th or even 4th. it becomes even worse if stupid owners fit bigger wheels/tyres

Yeah true. A lot of the times the only gear that feels great being in.. is 1st. The 6th gear is really quite hopeless unless your on the highway and you want to cruize it.

What is the final drive ratio, and did it change?

wow actually it did change.

Used to be 4.529:1 now its 4.562:1
