Stock external amplifier

Does the Aurion come with an external amplifier? I've been looking through the Navigation and Audio/Visual manuals for the American version, and they all seem to indicate the factory speakers are run off a (basic) factory amplifier. Seems to indicate it's under the front seats but I can't find it.

Someone able to shed some light on this?

I don't know anything about the Aurion specifically, but often cars will have a "premium" audio package as an option, which usually involves speakers with a higher power handling (usually with some free-air subwoofers), and an external amplifier to drive them. It's possible your model has the regular package, which are in almost all cases driven directly from the head unit.

Must be a US Camry thing. Possibly a premium audio upgrade offered over there, as danja said? As far as I'm aware, no such option was ever offered here, only the option to upgrade your head unit to a satnav unit. My ZR6 only had the standard unit. When I was upgrading my system, running the wires for my sub and CD stacker in the boot, the speaker wires all appeared to be run direct from the head unit to the speakers. Besides, the stock unit has no RCAs - the crappy 16 guage wire would be a pretty woeful way of connecting it to even a factory fitted external amp.

As mentioned, it's for the American Gen 6 Camry. This comes as part of the 8-speaker JBL Premium audio package where they also use JBL speakers. The extra two speakers are just like the facelift Aurion here where they are basically just a two-way rear speaker design.
