Congrats on your new purchase. If I may ask, what other cars were you looking at and why did you settle on the Kluger?

I seem to recall reading something about the air filter, do you know what all the fuss is regarding this special K & N filter? I think I've seen them on ebay for $150+, is it made of gold? laugh.gif

Also the sat nav you're talking about, is that the one normally fitted as standard in the Grande or a different model?

Thanks for the comments...

I was looking at the following;

- Holden Captiva LX Diesel

- Mazda CX-9

- Ford Territory Ghia

And was seriously looking at the All new Kia Sorento Diesel Platinum.

Decided on the Kluger for many factors, but more so the flexibility of the seating and the "walk thru" to the third row.

K&N Filters are really good!

I have put one in all my cars (up to car 18 now)...

$130rrp and bought at autObarn with a 20% voucher from the entertainment book!

The Sat Nav is the Double Din sized OEM Toyota Sat Nav genuine accessory.

If you have access to the Kluger Accessories Brochure, it is in there.

Now looking at the following;

- Mud Flaps

- Nudge Bar (airbag compatible)

- Rubber Cargo Mat

- Side steps

Glenn

Welcome to the KX-S club - and the upgrade merry-go-round which you have jumped right on to. :clap:

The OEM horn is embarrassing -it was one of my earliest upgrades too.

Kind regards

Hado

Good choice of vehicle ... but do you really mean a 10/2008 build?

As an aside, my 10/2008 build KX-S (bought in 12/2008) is quickly approaching 40k km ... and a replacement set of tyres! Not a single problem with the vehicle, however.

  • 4 weeks later...

OEM Toyota Mudflaps (F & R) now installed.

They look so much better than the daggy rear piece of plastic.

FIAMM Horns have now been installed;

High Tone Part No: 72102 http://www.fiammamerica.com/Product.asp?ProductID=155

Low Tone Part No: 72112 http://www.fiammamerica.com/Product.asp?ProductID=156

Simple plug and play...

So much better than the silly OEM horns!

It is pot luck if you can get a FIAMM horn in OZ nowdays.

I purchased from US. You can get these on eBay.

Cost about $70.00AUD for 2 (High and Low) delivered.

Ok so got the rubber cargo mat, fits well and is really functional.

But it STINKS with a very overpowering smell!!!

What is the best way to get rid of the rubber smell, leave out in the sun?

Anyone else experience this?

I recall mine being the same - but it doesn't smell at all now.

I can't remember how long it took - because your nose gets used to smells - but the strong smell eventually goes away.

I have taken the Cargo Mat out and have left outside to air...

I will give it another week, it is that BAD!

Where have you bought your mat? I've seen on ebay at 80$ (plus 18.50$ postage i item 280490174544). The dealer asked $107 - part in stock.

Is the one on ebay an original toyota part?

tempted to pay the extra just to get the item straight away.

The seller on ebay who uses the official Toyota images and seller name "sydneycity" (or similar) appears to actually work for Sydney City Toyota as when I ordered the cargo mat from him it came in the official Toyota packaging with Sydney Toyota stickers all over it.

All up with postage to my door was about $97 I believe.

My local dealer wanted to rip me off $125 !!

Don't you mean the Daewoo Captiva?? :whistling: hehe

Marvelous what a badge does to perceptions of a brand/car.

I too looked at a lot of other 7 seater vehicles when shopping but I just couldn't put myself into a Daewoo... it's a bit like buying beer from Aldi, seems like a good idea, saves you money but after a few mouthfuls you can't help thinking you'd rather be drinking the real thing ;)

You need to deal contracts late on a Wed night!

Talked our dealer down to $72.73+GST for the cargo mat

and free kluger mats and tank of fuel and saved $4k on RRP KX-R.

He knew we were unimpressed by trade-in pricing so he gave in

- but we sold privately for 58% more than they were offering
