Many years ago in another life, I was a Toyota mechanic. I used to work on these old Coronas mainly doing Diff repairs to the Borg-Warner rear ends which used to develop a 'period' noise around 80-90kmph.

I was given one of these cars yesterday by a good customer of mine who had owned it for the last 18 years of it's life. Her husband, a motor mechanic by trade, had kept it in pristine condition over this time, adding a few extras to it along the way such as Nippondenso air conditioning, a 5 speed gearbox out of a Celica, and power steering box from a Toyota Crown, with a P/St pump courtesy of Ford.

This car is in original condition, and to me, a keeper. The only work it needs is to the interior which has seats from two different cars, hence the upholstery id totally different front to back.

The great part of this car is the mileage. It's only done 246300 kms in 34 years. It runs like a dream on the road, and the power steering and A/C work like a treat.

What I am wondering is, are there any other members with a similar car in the western regions of Brisbane to Toowoomba?

The previous owner has a whole shed full of spares for this model, and i'd hate to see them get thrown out. I don't have the room for them all, so if anyone needs them, contact me here, and i'll tell you how to get them.

Regards Kev.

Further to this post, i'm looking for a rear bumper in good condition for this car. The previous owner doesn't have one in his myriad of spares, and this one has a small crease in it, so it's not worth re-chroming with that fault. Let me know here if you can help please, but only if you are in range of me here at Laidley. Brisbane is fine, so is Toowoomba.
