Hi, I noticed that the sliding door on my Van is very very grinding. Our friends have one and is like new, so smooth.

IS there an eise fix on these.

Has any one done this and replaced it?

Whats it like to replace?

Also cost???

The problem you have is probably from the middle hinged roller. Does it sound and feel like this part?

First, the worn part is a small nylon bush, but you can't buy just that, you have to buy the whole hinge, about $80 or more from memory. So I just removed the hinge and found some suitable nylon material to fit over the pin, it still isn't like new though. Probably have to change the hinge to get the little bush.

To remove the hinge, you will have to remove the window handle and take off the trim inside the door, then a 10mm socket to undo the two screw bolts holding the hinge. then you get out of the car and remove the trim from the centre slide rail stop. This just clips on, and underneath there is a small nylon block that is removed by pushing toward the front of the car. then you can slide the hinge off and muck around with it or replace the hinge.

If you have a small lathe you could turn a bush up in about 5 minutes. It has a washer like shape on the bottom of a simple nylon bush roller.

Not too hard to do, just need to be prepared to frig around with it unless you are prepared to buy the hinge from Toyota.
