So Another forum I have on has had the following query posted and was wondering you anyone could input more

Okay, so possibly the dumbest question ever  but we've just gotten a 2008 Tarago and I cannot, for the life of me, get the sliding doors to stay open! They keep just wanting to slide closed unless on a totally flat road, which is a pain because our driveway is ever so slightly angled, just enough for the doors to want to close.

I've read the manual and it says "make sure the doors are secure open so they don't slide close" but how the heck do I do that!?

Is there a trick i'm missing? Please help me!

Signed,

Ever so embarrassed for not being able to operate a car doors :o

FYI They have stated they do open the door fully and even an approx 5-10 deg slant forward will close it.

Are the windows open at all? - doors won't latch open if the windows are down even a few cms.

Failing that just ring any Toyota dealer or take it in and show them.

I have a similar vintage and it caused me the same grief.

Apparently, the doors won't lock open if the windows are open. This is bad for us in summer and also inconvenient. I had my mechanic remove one of the cable mechanisms connected to the door lock (there are two) and now it always stays open regardless of the window open or closed (which is the way its SUPPOSED to be).

Best of luck!
