No power in my 1992 1HZ 80

Recently bought a 1992 HZJ80R with low kms. Had no problems, alls been good, apart from; it has just started playing up. It has no power going up hills, wont rev hard at all, stalls, even in gear with ya foot on the clutch. Its as if it has no fuel at all, but main tank is over half full. I'm still thinking its a fuel problem, perhaps lines are blocked or something? or it wont suck fuel in, but starts first time everytime still. I'm clueless, so any help will me muchly, greatly, ridiculously appreciated, cheers.

One of the more obvious things to check is your air filter? It may be clogged or requires replacing if it's the standard paper element type. Sounds like not enough air is being sucked in to burn the fuel.

Is there excessive black smoke? This indicates incomplete combustion.

Hi,

If it's the 1HZ non turbo'd diesel then lack of power is a feature, especially when towing. As BeepBeep mentioned, if it's black smoke, could be air filter, injectors, bad fuel. Maybe compression (lack of).

Are all cylinders firing ?

Mate,

If this has happened all of a sudden,I think that I would be checking your valve timing, maybe the belt has slipped a tooth.

Cheers,

The Old Guy.
