Hello all,

I'm having trouble with the gearbox in my Landcruiser and was hoping someone may have some experience with this issue and keen to share any theories.

I have an 80s series landcruiser, built 1996 , basic model, 4L diesel, 5 speed manual (150f I believe) 250,000Kms

Recently I went to reverse from my garage to find I can't select reverse. The gear won't go into the gate. All other gears are fine. No odd noises or vibrations have been noticed previously or since. The car still drives fine, I just can't select reverse gear. I have never had a problem with grinding gears or any other sticky gear selection.

After reading a few other forums I have found a few suggestions. Have tried drilling a hole through the gear box well to access the reverse gear selector ball (small torx 40 access nut with spring and ball on the top left side of the box. spring and ball are easily removed, so does not seem to be the issue) and am currently in the process of taking out the box.

Im really hoping I don't have to take apart the whole box. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Will check back here in a day or two.

Thankyou, Bast
