Child Anchor Bolts

Hi,

We have a 2002 Tarago and two of the three child anchor bolts at the rear of the second row seats are missing.

Does anyone know if these are readily available?

I'm also interested in seeing if it is possible to install additional anchor points for the third row seats. Has anyone had this done to ADR requirements?

We have had what is known as a CRAB bar installed to provde anchorage points for the third row. Though I am in NSW and the rules may be different contact your equivalent of the Roads and Traffic Authority and they should be ablr to advise you where your nearest authorised fitting centre is and they should be able to install the bar

Just a quick update to let future readers of this topic know what I've found.

The child restraint anchors are available from Toyota spare parts. They are just under $50 each for the Tarago (2002 model) which is of course outrageous to charge this much, but I'd rather my children be safe. They come in kit form with the plastic cover included. The anchors simply screw into the rear of the second row seat frame - pretty easy to do.

If it's just the bolt in bit then most cars have the same sort of clip with the same size bolt and you should be able to get one out of any other car at a wreckers. Having the plastic cover is kind of pointless considering the seats are usually clipped in the whole time.

In the '94 Tarago there are 6 anchor locations in the back (all seats can have child seat). I doubt Toyota would have reduced the number in the later models. The provision is there you just need to screw in the bolt. When we bought our baby seat, it came with the appropriate bolt.
