G'day.

Ah not entirely sure if it should go in this forum but looked like the most appropriate. Anywho, I am looking at buying a Hilux from interstate (I live in Victoria and would be purchasing from NSW), however I am not entirely sure on a few things.

It is a 1999 KZN165R Dual Cab, with a custom tray. Not so much the issue, however it has a 6" lift.. Which is my main issue. Would that mean there would have to be an engineers certificate to pass the roadie? The 4x4 shift is down low and not in the center console where it should be, which would be another road worthy issue wouldn't it?

The bloke selling it says that he is selling it with a roadie, however I am not entirely sure if the bloke knows..

Next question being, if it does come with a road worthy, is that RWC useful in Victoria or would I need to get a Victorian registered mechanic to do another one? I know a handful of mechanics, some of me best mates are, so thats not the issue, would still be nice if it could just come with it though. Appreciate any help.

Cheers, Bob!

Definately ask the question, the tray would be ok, but the 6' lift technically makes it illegal...also what size tyres are running on it? Thats another thing that can stop you - itll be a percentage of its factory rolling diameter - say 25% or something larger...

State by state is different, but if hes selling it with a roadworthy in NSW and you cant get RWC for it in VIC then you could always try leaving the vehicle rego'd in NSW? Thats if all else fails of course :whistling:

Youll prob find all you need to know on www.newhilux.net - there is tons and tons of all sorts of info regarding hilux's...great stuff!

Oh I didn't think the tires would be an issue as long as the speedo was correct.

But it has 35s on it. I was going to buy it and sell the lift kit after putting in a 3 or 4" cause its not a bad rig. Just want to know if its a waste of money or not thats all.

Ah ok thanks mate ;)
