Kluger-Tint on Glass

The rear windows have what they call privacy glass, however this offers very little protection from the sun or heat. This is mainly designed to offer security/privacy. There is a clear film that is recommend to be put over the rear windows to offer passengers protection when getting the front done.

Hey,

The rear glass does definately offer uv protection and will also cut heat as per normal tinting. I looked into this carefully when I had my front window tint completed. There is another tread from a while back that goes into this in far more detail.

Apparently the whole clear film thing was started by the tinting industry to try and get you to tint the whole car $$$$.

I guess with so many cars coming out with privacy glass they needed to push something.

Solar Heat Reduction Rate : 47.8 %

Visible Light Transmission Rate: 78.9 %

(2) Sliding Roof

Colour Glass : Gray

UV Cut Rate : 95.4 %

Solar Heat Reduction Rate : 78.5 %

Visible Light Transmission Rate: 18.9 %

(3) Front Door

Colour Glass : Green

Type : Tempered

UV Cut Rate : 91.8 %

Solar Heat Reduction Rate : 55.5 %

Visible Light Transmission Rate: 72.8 %

(4) Rear Door Privacy

Colour Glass : Privacy

Type : Tempered

UV Cut Rate : 96.8 %

Solar Heat Reduction Rate : 82.2 %

Visible Light Transmission Rate: 20.8 %

(5) Rear Quarter Privacy

Colour Glass : Privacy

Type : Tempered

UV Cut Rate : 90.2 %

Solar Heat Reduction Rate : 78.2 %

Visible Light Transmission Rate: 23.6 %

(6) Back Door Privacy

Colour Glass : Privacy

Type : Tempered

UV Cut Rate : 95.9 %

As you can see the rear doors have quite a bit of UV filtering, but not as much as the film.

Cheers

Jolyon
